Angkor är en av de viktigaste arkeologiska fyndplatserna i Sydostasien. Angkor Archaeological Park sträcker sig över cirka 400 km2, inklusive skogsområde, och innehåller de magnifika resterna av Khmerrikets olika huvudstäder, från 800-talet till 1400-talet. Bayon var kung Jayavarman VII:s statstempel, byggt i slutet av 1100-talet. Det är ett bergstempel byggt för att representera Mount Meru, universums centrum i hinduisk och buddhistisk kosmologi. Bayons mest utmärkande drag är mängden av fridfulla och massiva stenansikten på de många tornen som skjuter från den övre terrassen och klungan runt dess mitttopp. Likheten mellan de 216 gigantiska ansiktena och andra statyer av Jayavarman VII har lett många forskare till hypotesen att ansiktena är representationer av kungen själv. Andra tror att ansiktena tillhör Avalokitesvara, bodhisattva av medkänsla medan ännu en kommentar föreslog att templet ursprungligen byggdes för den hinduiska guden Brahma. Templet är också populärt för två imponerande uppsättningar basreliefer, som presenterar en ovanlig kombination av mytologiska, historiska och vardagliga scener. Detta är ett av de många ”måste besöka” tempel.
Baphuon är ett vackert 1000-tals ”tempelberg” med branta trappor som leder besökare till en terrass som erbjuder en av de bästa vyerna i Angkors arkeologiska park. Arkeologer tror att detta pyramidliknande tempel, som ligger i staden Angkor Thom, förmodligen var bland de mest imponerande av Angkor-templen på sin tid. Tyvärr orsakade tidens tand och moder natur betydande skador på detta magnifika tempel, och det var mycket nära att gå förlorat i historien. Historien om hur den restaurerades är lika imponerande som själva strukturen.
Detta monument är idag känt som Ta Prohm eller ”Gamla Brahma”, och hette ursprungligen ”Rajavihara” som betyder ”kungligt kloster”. År 1186 e.Kr. invigde Jayavarman VII flera statyer här, varav den viktigaste var Prajnaparamita, personifieringen av Visdomens Fulländning, en figur som kungen identifierade med sin mor.
I skarp kontrast till de ofta överväldigande trånga och populära angkoriska ruinerna är Banteay Kdei lugnt och tyst. Dess namn betyder "Citadel of Chambers", vilket är passande; ruinerna är en fascinerande labyrint av kammare som är en fröjd att utforska. Ruinerna fungerar också som buddhistiskt tempel och har varit hem för ett aktivt kloster under flera tidsperioder sedan de byggdes på 1100-talet, fram till 1960-talet. Idag är ruinerna övervuxna och till synes bortglömda av den livliga turistindustrin Angkor. Dess ensamhet och mystik gör det till en dold pärla för upptäcktsresande i regionen. Our tour of Ankor Wat and surrounding temples with Tiger was great! He was super flexible with our itinerary and kept us supplied with cold bottled water all day. He took us from temple to temple and let us explore by ourselves, as well as taking us to a great place for lunch. 100% recommend!

I would really recommend Tiger, he was a brilliant tour guide, gave us great information about the sites we visited, answered all of our questions, let us go wherever we wanted to and was one of the friendliest people I have met while I have been travelling! I honestly could not recommend more, helped us fit a lot into one day with complete enthusiasm.
We had the best experience of our visit to Siem reap with tiger, we got to explore the temples at our own pace and did not feel rushed, would highly recommend over going with a tour company was really great value for money.
We did two tours with Tiger and they were both great tours. His driving was impeccable , a nice lexus car , very clean , good air conditioning. Tiger spoke excellent english. He had cold water for us, and cold wipes throughout the trips. Tiger did a great job of explaining about all of the sights , culture and history to us. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. I would definitely recommend him for any tour.

Let’s list the ways: - Communication: he is very responsive to WhatsApp messages and shared a wealth of knowledge about Angkor Wat, the temples and Cambodia today. - Charm: friendly and gracious, Tiger ensured our experience at Angkor was magical. From giving us wet wipes and chilled waters after each temple stop, to being playful and laughing along at jokes. - Photographer: meticulous, Tiger took a number of photos of us at the sites, from many different angles. He got several money shots. - Good driving: the roads can be chaotic with scooters, Tuk Tuks and other vehicles jockeying for position. Tiger got us to our destinations with speed and efficiency. Tip: you can use him and his comfortable air conditioned SUV for more than just Ankgor Wat. He also drove us to and from the airport for a separate, reasonable fee.
