Fotostopp vid Al Alam Palace "Palace of the Flag" är ett palats som ligger i Gamla Muskat, Oman. Det användes som ett ceremoniellt palats av sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said. En av sex sultaniska residens av monarken, har en historia på över 200 år, och byggdes under bevakning av Imam Sultan bin Ahmed, den 7: e direkta farfar till Sultan Qaboos.
Fotostopp utanför Al Jalali Fort, eller Ash Sharqiya Fort, är ett fort i hamnen i Gamla Muscat, Oman. Fortet byggdes av Portugisiska under Filip I av Portugal på 1580-talet för att skydda hamnen efter att Muskat två gånger hade plundrats av osmanska styrkor. Det föll till omanska styrkor 1650. Under inbördeskrigen mellan 1718 och 1747 intogs fortet två gånger av perser som hade bjudits in för att hjälpa en av de rivaliserande imamerna. Fortet byggdes om i stor utsträckning senare.

Muttrah Fort är ett historiskt fort i wilayat Muttrah i Muscat. Fortet ligger på en dominerande position på kullarna med utsikt över den naturliga hamnen i Muttrah, vilket skulle ha gjort det till en ganska ointaglig position att försvara Muttrah från attacker samtidigt som det tillåter observation av det omgivande territoriet från dess vakttorn.
Därefter besöker vi Muttrah Souq, en av Omans äldsta och mest historiska marknadsplatser, med en historia som går tillbaka cirka 200 år. Vandra genom dess traditionella smala gränder och upptäck ett underbart urval av souvenirer, omanskt hantverk, parfymer, kryddor, silversmycken och traditionella skatter – en perfekt plats att uppleva Omans autentiska charm och arv.
Obs! Stora moskén är stängd för besökare varje fredag. Sultan Qaboos stora moské kommer att vara ett fotostopp från utsidan bara. Det är en av de största och mest magnifika moskéerna i världen, känd för sin fantastiska islamiska arkitektur och vackra detaljer. Icke-muslimska besökare är i allmänhet välkomna att komma in från 08:00 till 11:00 (lördag-torsdag). Muslimska besökare kan besöka moskén även utanför dessa tider, i enlighet med moskéns riktlinjer för besökare.

Excellent whistle stop tour alloeing us to see many of the major tourist attractions in an afternoon. Our guide Jihad gave a great running commentary throughout with super knowledge of the cities history and answered all our searching questions. Highly recommend this actovity.

The tour was very well organized and truly interesting. Our guide Ali did an excellent work! In couple of hours he showed us so many nice places and talked about the history and present time of Muscat and Oman. He also provided us with local food and drinks! Absolutely recommended!

Amazing half-day afternoon tour of Muscat with our tour guide, Waleed. We visited the Royal Opera House Muscat, the Mutra Souq, the Sultan’s palace, the Grand Mosque as well as a wonderful scenic view of Muscat at night. Waleed was friendly and informative and was happy to make the afternoon and night a very comfortable and memorable experience. We definitely recommend this tour, especially if you are short on time. The photos don’t do Muscat justice but it’s definitely worth a place on your bucket list.

We were accompanied by Khalid Al Siyabi, who is the most fantastic tour guide possible ! He complied with our specific requests and even deviated slightly from the scheduled route to accommodate us with things we wanted to see. He is super interesting, knows the history of the country and city, and kept us fascinated with facts about every location and historical events. He is highly recommended !
