Hippodromen var det bysantinska rikets sociala och idrottsliga centrum, där vagnstävlingar, fester och offentliga evenemang ägde rum. Idag kan du fortfarande se historiska monument som den egyptiska obelisken, ormkolonnen och den Tyska fontänen.
Blå moskén byggdes i början av 1600-talet och är känd för sina vackra blå İznik-plattor, imponerande kupol och sex minareter. Hagia Sofia byggdes 537 e.Kr. av kejsar Justinianus I och fungerade som kyrka, moské, museum och är idag återigen en moské.
