Stora moskén byggdes på en plats som upptar 416 000 m2 och komplexet sträcker sig till en yta på 40 000 m2 (430 000 m2), den stora moskén invigdes av sultanen av Oman den 4 maj 2001, fem minareter har byggts runt moskéns lokaler den viktigaste minareten (90 meter, 300 ft) i höjd. Bönesalen är fyrkantig i form och 74,4 gånger 74,4 meter (244 gånger 244 fot) har en central kupol som stiger till en höjd av 50 meter (160 fot) över golvet, kupolen är utsmyckad spektakulärt från insidan och det är en stor turistattraktion i sig, den huvudsakliga Musalla (Bönerummet) rymmer över 6500 tillbedjare, den viktigaste utformningen av interiören är bönemattan som täcker golvet i bönesalen, den innehåller 1,700.000.000 knop, väger 21 ton och tog fyra år att producera, och sammanför den klassiska persiska Tabriz, Kashan och Isfahan designtraditioner 28 färger i varierande nyanser användes.
Från Stora moskén på väg till fiskmarknaden kör vi genom ministerierna och ambassaderna även vi kör genom den fantastiska strandgatan, besöker fisk- och grönsaksmarknaden, lokalbefolkningen betalar och säljer färsk fisk och skaldjur.
Från fiskmarknaden, bara en kort bilresa till Mutrah Souq (Marknaden) besök Mutrah Souq, Omans största traditionella Souq, Mutrah Souq är en av de äldsta marknadsplatserna i Oman som går tillbaka två hundra år, det ligger intill hamnen i Muscat och har sett en enorm handel i segelåldern, är strategiskt beläget på väg till Indien och Kina, det fick sitt namn efter mörkret på grund av de trånga stånd och gränder där solstrålarna inte infiltrerar under dagen och shoppare behöver lampor för att veta sina destinationer, namnet på marknaden har dragits specifikt från den del som sträcker sig från Al Lawatiya moskén till Khour Bimba där platsen är verkligen full av butiker och stånd och det smala området av gränder tillåter inte solljuset att komma in, denna gamla marknadsplats idag har slingrande gränder av stånd som säljer antikviteter, traditionella tyger, aromatiska kryddor rökelse, Parfym, silver, Omani söt (Halwa), och färska produkter.
Från Mutrah souq besöker vi Bait Al Zubair Museum, för en fin visning av omansk kultur och historia och information om kungafamiljen.

Ali is a fantastic guide who speaks excellent English and knows how to explain everything about Muscat, Omani history and culture. It was a very valuable experience. I think I've seen more in half a day than most people have seen in two days. This tour is highly recommended.

We had a half-day private visit with Haroun who proved to be a good guide and a kind person. With us there were our children of 4 and not even a year and the latter was not very cooperative for the duration of the tour but Haroun was never impatient and indeed was really cooperative even helping us in the management. Jaafar was an excellent and knowledgeable guide! We went to the Grand Mosque and observed the wonderful architecture of the buildings.
