Postojna Cave, drottningen av alla grottor, är den mest kända grottan i världen. Det är också den största turistattraktionen i Slovenien och en av världens största karstmonument. Det här är det enda stället i världen där det underjordiska landskapet kan korsas på ett eltåg och där du möter detta underjordiska rikets mest berömda invånare - proteusen (olm) - nära. En fantastisk webbning av tunnlar, passager, gallerier och hallar, häpnadsväckande mångfald av karstegenskaper samt enkel åtkomst är säkert de främsta orsakerna till grottans popularitet och ett stort antal besökare (över 36 miljoner av dem över 200 år).
Predjama slott regerar över det omgivande området, inte långt från Postojna Cave, i den idylliska byn Predjama. Detta pittoreska, magnifika, spännande, mystiska och ogenomträngliga slott har blivit uppe i mitten av en vertikal 123 meter hög klippa i över 800 år. Dess romantiska överklagande framhävs ytterligare av den idylliska lokven, som försvinner in i den underjordiska världen djupt under slottet. Som det enda bevarade grottborgen i Europa erbjuder Predjama-slottet en unik inblick i byggnadstekniken och resursförmågan hos medeltiden, som letade efter och hittade en säker hamn för sig själv vid ingången till grottan. Under en belägrering som ägde rum under 15-talet gav slottet en tillflykt till sin mest kända och mest berömda ägare - Erazem of Predjama. Legenden om den modige rånareen Erazem, som förblev oskadad tills en av sina tjänare förråda honom, är fortfarande i människors sinne, inspirerande och lockande som någonsin. Det var den här säkra bostaden som hjälpt den modiga riddaren att motstå besiegersna utan mycket svårigheter i mer än ett år.

We had such a great day on this tour with our guide Norman he was brilliant. He gave us lots of information on the drive over and was happy to answer any questions. Once we arrived we went to the castle first which was really interesting learning about the history there and taking pictures :) I would recommend wearing trainers or boots as some of the climbs are a little steep/slippery inside. We also had an audio guide provided which was great. Then we moved onto the caves where we had an unforgettable experience on the train to enter. I’m not a big ride person really and it’s so good for anyone/all ages as it’s such a fun activity. The caves were magnificent, there is so much to see. We spent about an hour walking around and then finished by looking at some of the salamanders that live there. It was a great day trip!
We were on a cruise and wanted to see both the cave and inside the castle during our tour. The bus met us at the ship, and it was easy. The bus is nice, air conditioned and the guide, Vesna, kept us informed on the drive. The stop at the castle was great, and using your cell phone with their audio guide was helpful. Having your AirPods might make listening easier. We did feel a little rushed, and skipped over the last few stops in the castle to get back to the bus. Once on the bus, we waited 30 min while the guide looked for 2 passengers she thought were late. We left and made it to the cave, with around 45 min to eat or shop before our tour. We felt that was enough time, and wished we had more time at the castle. The cave tour was really excellent and they aren’t kidding that it is cold (50 F). We brought sweatshirts but wore shorts and were OK but you definitely need a jacket. The whole tour took 7 hours, and they did drop off a few people at the city center but otherwise drove us back to the ship. 4 stars only because we would have liked more time at the castle.
We visited the caves on August 13th, but keep in mind that the temperature inside is constant all year round at 10 degrees. Dressed in long pants and equipped with a backpack containing sweatshirts and jackets, we headed to the entrance where a small train will take you, in about 10 minutes, inside the caves where the walk will begin, which will last approximately 1 hour before taking the train back. The caves are very beautiful with an easy and simple path even for children.
Stephan was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. Punctual and safe driver. Enjoyed the lessons in Trieste and Slovenian history along the way. Pleasant half day trip from Trieste.
It was a great experience to take home. Absolutely recommended! The guide was incredibly polite and attentive to translating, both in English and Italian. He told many things that were both educational but also fun.

We loved our guide, who is originally from Slovenia, and the driver! Great information en route, and very kind to me with limited mobility due to knee injury. Be aware of fast paced walking in cave, often uphill. Bring a jacket for cave, but chill air was so welcome in contrast to outdoor heat wave! Recommend this combined tour, especially because of our Guide!
Slovenia is beautiful. Enjoyed the cave experience - bring a jacket. The castle tour was also enjoyable. Hands down a beautiful country.
Castle and caves are really amazing; plus I love the scenery driving to Slovenia ; it is so green and beautiful . We enjoyed our tour.
Since instructions for pickup were for specific time , should have been made aware there were pickups along the way .. thought it was a smaller group
