Vi är födda, uppvuxna och bodde alltid i Porto, så vi känner staden som en lokalbo och, eftersom det är en privat tur, kommer vi att anpassa den efter dina intressen. I denna privata mat-/vinresa kommer vi att fokusera på Portugisisk gastronomi, men du kommer att lära dig mycket om vår kultur, historia och traditioner, vilket gör oss unika. Du kommer att besöka Bolhão marknaden och flera matställen och tascas (traditionella butiker), samtidigt som du kommer i kontakt med lokalbefolkningen. Under tiden, upptäck historierna bakom våra huvudrätter: legenden om "tripeiros", namn som ges till Portos invånare; du kommer att lära dig hur "francesinha" görs, den "kaloribomb" som du inte bör missa och de läckra torskrecept, så viktigt i vår kultur. Vår ackrediterade Guide möter dig vid den inre klockan på São Bento tågstation. Väggmålningarna representerar ögonblick i landets historia, och de flerfärgade panelerna visar landsbygdsscener som visar människorna i olika regioner, liksom de två vinregionerna i norra Portugal. Lokalbefolkningen är känd som "Tripeiros", och du kommer att upptäcka legenden bakom, som är relaterad till erövringen av Ceuta (1415), med huvudfiguren Infante D. Henrique, som underkuvade morerna. We had a wonderful afternoon exploring many delicious venues. A flavorful shredded pork sandwich- a favorite of the locals, was first on the list. This was followed by a stroll through an historic market sampling wines, sardines, fresh oysters and stuffed dates and figs. The next treat we enjoyed was a sample of Ginjinha, a delicious cherry liquor available at a family owned shop. After a short walk we attended a luscious olive oil tasting complete with Portuguese cheese and charcuterie. A stop at a unique shop featuring jams, honey and chocolate spreads flavored with fruit was amazing. The perfect finish was a visit to a pastry shop for an espresso and the quintessential Portuguese pastry, Pasteis de Nata. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour in Porto with João. He provided insight into the culture and development of the area, along with a wonderful sampling of a variety of food and drinks. We had the greatest time touring with Oporto & Douro Moments! My husband and I had traveled to Porto once before but wanted to try something different this time. We booked a walking food and wine tour on a Sunday morning and it was the perfect way to see the city (definitely wear comfy shoes!) and get to learn a little more about the history and the special dishes of Porto!
