Pompeji är onekligen den viktigaste arkeologiska platsen i världen. En hel stad perfekt bevarad precis som den var år 79 e.Kr., när ett enormt utbrott av den närliggande vulkanen Vesuvius begravde den under ett djupt lager av aska och lapilli. Pompeji skiljer sig mycket från alla andra arkeologiska platser i världen. Det finns antika ruiner i Rom, Grekland, Egypten, Centralamerika och andra underbara platser på planeten, men på ingen av dem förutom Pompeji kan du fortfarande gå nerför de ursprungliga antika gatorna och hitta dem lika livliga som de var då. Du kan gå i samma hus som folk bodde i, i samma tempel som de bad i och vara på samma platser som de arbetade i och de hade roligt i. Du kan till och med fortfarande se spåren av deras vagnar kvar på vägytan; rören dricksvattnet rann in i; och sist men inte minst, de "förstenade" kropparna av offren för utbrottet.

Vi kommer att besöka de viktigaste offentliga byggnaderna (teatrar, tempel, termalbad och mer) och uppmärksamma några av de mest traditionella romerska butikerna som thermopolia - förfader till de moderna snabbmatsrestaurangerna - och pistrinum - den romerska motsvarigheten till ett bageri. Staden Pompeji är också ganska känd för magnifika sina bostäder, vars namn är kända i hela världen: Menanders hus, Faunens hus, Vettiiernas hus, Caecilius Iucundus hus och många Mer. Vi kommer att befinna oss i några av dessa fantastiska bostäder och även promenera nerför "Via dell'Abbondanza" (huvudgatan), Forum (det största torget) och det berömda "red-light district" och dess suggestiva väggmålningar. Slutligen kommer ett särskilt fokus att läggas på de stackars offren för utbrottet, som framstår som förstenade kroppar.

Francesco was what a tour guide should be. He was concise to the point and thorough when necessary. He balanced giving in-depth information with facts that you can’t just look up in history book. Francesco was very respectful of our time and maximized every minute. He was very personable and I would recommend him to anyone considering a tour of Pompeii.

We had a great experience in Pompeii with Francesco! He was fantastic and brought the city to life for us! We had been once before, but a smaller private group was far nicer than a large group! I wasn’t sure what to expect on this tour but we were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. The guide Antonella was so knowledgeable and helpful! The private tour was worth every penny! The other tours were great I’m sure but having your own guide to talk to made it an experience we will never forget. She delivered such personal service to us that she made us feel like royalty!

We had a wonderful tour with our kids (ages 10 and 12) with Marzia! She was an extremely nice person and brought us to the most beautiful places and explained so much that it made Pompeii come to life! I have been to Pompeii years ago, but without a gut and there is no comparison how much more I enjoyed this experience. Highly recommend.
