Denna tur är idealisk för dem som kommer till Bayeux på morgonen och vill besöka den medeltida staden Bayeux innan de går ombord på en guidad tur till D-dagen platser. Också att njutas av dem som redan är i Bayeux naturligtvis! Börjar vid den ökända Omaha Beach, vidare till den amerikanska kyrkogården och sedan till Pointe du Hoc. Från det Tyska vapenfästet ”WN 62” med sin omisskännliga utsikt över Easy och Fox sektorer på Omaha Beach, och strandutgången ”D1” av Vierville sur Mer, kommer vi att ta dig tillbaka 80 år och återuppleva historien om våra befriare. Detta är en komplett tur som tar dig från Omaha Beach till Pointe du Hoc i en fyra timmars turné segment. Här kommer vi att se många WN: er ((wiederstandnest-menande tyska vapen starka punkter placeringar) från Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes till Vierville. Vi kommer att besöka några av dessa starka poäng, som var de bättre försvarade tyska positionerna längs Omaha. Vi kommer att stanna vid WN 62 och WN 65 i Fox Green och Easy Red sektorerna i den amerikanska landningen, och WN 73 i Dog Green i Vierville. Detta strandattack var ett svårt uppdrag som gavs till US V Corps (General Gerow) vars Force O bestod av den första infanteridivisionen, den 29: e infanteridivisionen, Rangers och flera anslutna enheter.
Denna kyrkogård sträcker sig över 172,5 tunnland och är en av fjorton permanenta amerikanska kyrkogårdar från andra världskriget, byggda på främmande jord. Den innehåller resterna av 9387 tjänstemän och kvinnor som dödades för vår frihet. Den amerikanska kyrkogården i Colleville förmedlar en oförglömlig känsla av ära, fred och lugn.
Beläget på en klippa 8 mil väster om kyrkogården, skapades detta monument av Frankrike för att hedra delar av 2nd Rangers-bataljonen under kommando av LTC James E. RUDDER som skalade 100-fots klippan. Admiral Halls underrättelseansvarare kommenterade: "Det går inte att göra. Tre gamla kvinnor med kvastar kunde stoppa Rangers att skala den klippan!". RUDDER svarade till General BRADLEY: "Sir, min Rangers kan göra jobbet åt dig".

Great afternoon touring the cemetery, Pointe du Hoc and Omaha Beach with Jean! Pickup was smooth and well-organized, time at each location was sufficient, and Jean provided great information along the way! The use of binders at each stop to help provide context with maps and personal stories of soldiers added good value.
Lucas was an excellent tour guide. For a 27 year old he was a wealth of knowledge. He made our tour a very amazing experience.
This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. From the very beginning, Lucas was welcoming, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. He was patient with every question our group had and explained the history and significance of each site in a way that was both fascinating and easy to understand. We learned so much that we never would have discovered on our own. He had lots of visual resources that helped illustrate things. We don’t usually book guided tours because we prefer exploring independently, but this tour completely changed our perspective. It was absolutely worth it. The historical context and expert insight added so much to the experience that we know we would have missed otherwise. We highly recommend this tour, and if you’re fortunate enough to have Lucas as your guide, you’ll be in excellent hands.

We took Overlord Tours’ half-day option focusing on Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, and the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, and it was the perfect way to experience these historic D-Day sites without committing to a full day. The tour was exceptionally well-run, respectful, and packed with insight. Our guides Lucas and Stephane were fantastic once again. They delivered a perfect mix of historical detail, personal stories, and tactical explanations that made the events of June 6, 1944, feel immediate and real. Lucas’s engaging storytelling and Stephane’s thoughtful answers to questions kept the whole group captivated. They handled the emotional weight of the sites with great care and respect. The itinerary was ideal for a half-day: we explored the dramatic cliffs and German bunkers at Pointe du Hoc (incredible to see the scale of the Ranger assault up close), spent meaningful time walking Omaha Beach itself, and concluded at the beautiful and solemn American Cemetery. Standing among the thousands of white crosses overlooking the beach was deeply moving and brought everything into perspective. Transportation was comfortable, timing was spot-on, and the smaller group allowed for a more personal experience. This half-day format is excellent if you want quality time at the most impactful sites without fatigue. Lucas and Stephane, thank you for making this such a memorable and informative visit. Our guide Thierry was very kind and had great knowledge of events in WWII. We were very comfortable in the modern clean vehicle used with Air Conditioning on a very hot day. We were offered cold drinks as well. The taps ceremony (lowering of the American flag) at 4 pm was very poignant and we were grateful for the respect given our military heroes.
This is a fantastic tour, if you really want to double into the area and the American impact on the war, this is a must see! Our guide was top-notch.
