Oaxacas landsbygd: Agavefält och Mezcal

Hej, jag heter Alvaro, och tillsammans börjar vi denna resa till hjärtat av Oaxaca. Vårt första stopp blir Teotitlán del Valle, där vi besöker ett kooperativ av hantverkare som håller de uråldriga teknikerna för färgning och vävning av ull vid liv. Sedan beger vi oss till min pittoreska stad Mitla, omgiven av vackra berg och agavefält. Ivriga att dela min kultur och mina traditioner med er utforskar vi de majestätiska agavefälten för att lära oss mer om dem och upptäcka varför vi hittar mezcals med olika smaker. Det blir gott om foton och skratt! Efteråt besöker vi familjedestilleriet för att lära oss om produktionsprocessen steg för steg och den passion med vilken den tillverkas. Vi avslutar med att smaka på olika sorters mezcal i kombination med utsökt och autentisk mat från Oaxaca. Under hela turen kommer jag att vara uppmärksam på dina behov; mitt mål är att du ska känna dig som hemma och göra din mezcal-resa till ett oförglömligt minne.

När vi alla är samlade börjar vi med en kort förklaring om dagen som kommer och skålar med en god Mezcal för att påbörja vår resa till Teotitlán del Valle.
Vi börjar vår resa genom bergslandskap tills vi når Santa María Teotitlán del Valle, en traditionell hantverksstad, där vi besöker en ullfärgnings- och vävverkstad för att lära oss om den urgamla zapotekiska färgningstekniken.
Res genom agavefälten: När vi anländer till byn börjar vi vår tur med att promenera genom agavefälten, där de robusta växterna står som väktare av det oaxacanska arvet. I ett landskap omgivet av berg, kaktusar och agaveträd fördjupar vi oss i dess historia och förstår dess förvandling från jordens omfamning till nektarn som pryder din kopp. Foton är ett måste.
Avslöja traditioner: Vår resa fortsätter vid tröskeln till vårt familjeägda mezcal-destilleri. Luften är tjock av den söta doften av agave, ett löfte om de skatter som väntar. Guidad av mig och hand i hand med mästaren mezcalero, kommer du att transporteras tillbaka i tiden för att bevittna den uråldriga processen som förvandlar de ödmjuka agavehjärtan till det flytande guldet känt som mezcal. Klimaxen på vår resa kommer när vi provar vår samling av mezcals, var och en med sin unika karaktär och historia. När du höjer ditt glas dansar den sammetslena vätskan på din tunga och avslöjar smaker som sträcker sig från jordnära till eteriska. Med mig guidad kommer du att utforska nyanserna i varje klunk, en resa som väcker sinnena och tänder en djupare uppskattning av detta enastående elixir.
Ta med en bit av Oaxaca hem. När dagen går mot sitt slut kommer du att ha chansen att ta med dig en bit av Oaxacan-magi. Välj från vårt utvalda urval av mezcals, noggrant utformade för att fånga essensen av regionen. Varje flaska innehåller en del av berättelsen du har vävt under dagen: en berättelse om tradition, hantverk och kopplingen mellan mark och dricksoffer.
Oaxacan Party och Confraternity: På min familjs härbärge inbjuder en autentisk Oaxacan fest. Bordet är laddat med kulinariska underverk, varje rätt bär på tradition. När vi samlas flödar skratten och historierna som mezcal. Flaskorna lossas och vänskap knyts i andarnas varma famn. Samexistensen av kulturer blir ett levande vittnesbörd om mezcals magi.
Tills vi ses igen: När vi återvänder till vår mötesplats bär vi på minnen som kommer att krydda våra hjärtan för alltid. Bindningarna som bildades, smakerna avnjuts och de berättelser som delas kommer att fortsätta att förbinda oss, långt efter att värmen från mezcalen har tagit slut. Resan från vår mötesplats till Mitla är 45 minuter, samma sak för returen till vår mötesplats. Tack för att du delar Mexikos flytande kultur!

Leida was knowledgeable about family owned Mezcal making from start to the end. Took us to a Great lunch spot. Went out the way to drop me at my stay. I would highly recommend her and this tour to those interested in Mezcal
The description of this experience sounded so amazing: a very personalized tour with a mezcal maestro, a fabulous traditional family lunch with an intimate setting. But unfortunately this was not the case. Although the guide Leyda was extremely professional and knowledgeable and the trip to the agave fields was informative and fun, the food experience was not at all good. We were taken to a roadside eatery and given one dish (with a lot of meat, when I had told them I was vegetarian! They rectified this by giving me a dish of veg and taking away the cheese!), very loud music and no atmosphere. I wrote to Alvaro and explained my disappointment and he was very communicative and apologized, but for us this was a once in a lifetime experience and I’m afraid I can’t recommend it based on the price and compared with other tours. It did not meet my expectations.

We sincerely regret that some aspects of the tour did not fully meet your expectations. The presence of our mezcal master can occasionally be affected by the realities of small-batch artisanal production, especially during the rainy season. Regarding the meal, we do offer vegetarian and vegan options whenever dietary preferences are communicated before the tour, which is why we contact guests in advance whenever possible. We truly appreciate your comments, as they help us improve both our communication and the overall guest experience. Experience was amazing. Our guide Leyda especially made the day, she was incredible! Loved walking through the agave fields, and then seeing the whole process of how the Mezcal is made from start to finish. Tasting was great and the lunch they took us to was truly delicious- would absolutely do this again!
We had an amazing afternoon on the Mezcal and countryside tour. The first stop to the textile factory was very informative and interactive. Alvaro was a great guide with tons of knowledge about Mezcal and Oaxaca. We toured the beautiful agave fields, practiced using a machete, and learned the entire Mezcal production process from the field to the bottle. The Mezcal tasting was fun and informative, and the Mezcal all tasted great! Finally we shared a traditional Oaxacan lunch at a beautiful restaurant. Highly recommend this tour for a wonderful experience, and thank you so much Alvaro!

Other than the ride from Oaxaca to Mitla (the car was a tight fit for 5 guests) it was a great trip. Fun, entertaining and very informative, followed by an amazing lunch. The work that goes into each bottle of Mezcal is insane!
