Discover Sainte-Mère-Église, en stad i Normandie, var en av de första som befriades under D-dagens invasion den 6 juni 1944. Amerikanska 82:a luftburna divisionens fallskärmsjägare landade i området, några föll oavsiktligt in i själva staden. En berömd händelse involverade fallskärmsjägare John Steele, vars fallskärm fastnade på kyrktornet; han låtsades vara död innan han undkom tyskt tillfångatagande. Efter hårda strider säkrade de allierade staden på morgonen. Idag symboliserar Sainte-Mère-Église D-dagens mod, med hyllningar som en fallskärm på kyrkan och museer som hedrar befrielsen.
Gå till Omaha Beach och passera genom 8 km av kusten mot Engelska kanalen. Vid stranden hittar du en skulptur som heter Les Braves "The Braves" för att hedra soldaterna som utkämpade kriget. Ett närliggande museum kan valfritt besökas.
Fortsätt turen till Normandie American Cemetery för att hylla stridens kämpar. 2019 besökte president Macron och president Trump gemensamt kyrkogården för 75-årsdagen av DDay. Du kan också stanna till vid besökscentret för en detaljerad utställning om kriget.
Ditt första stopp är vid Point du Hoc där du kommer att se de många bombkratrarna som förblivit orörda sedan kriget. Klättra genom de olika bunkrarna för att bevittna hur tyskarna använde klipporna till sin fördel och föreställ dig hur amrikanerna attackerade och fångade batteriet efter att ha tagit sig över klipporna.

This one day (8 hour) tour generally focussed on the USA journey. It was excellent. There were 6 of us in a private mini bus. We were picked up from our private Air BnB accommodation. We had a great English speaking guide, 'Sophia', who had her own family connections to D Day which made it all the more genuine. She gave us great intel and was able to answer all of our questions. She planned the day well so we avoided the crowds and we covered a lot of ground in a very full on day. My only criticism was that there was some confusion over the start time. We originally booked it for 09:30 and then changed it to 08:30. Despite the paperwork recognising this, the message never got to the tour guide or driver so they came at 09:30. This left us anxious whilst we were waiting for them to arrive and resulted in me having to chase it up. All in all, it didn't spoil our day but, in terms of feedback - its worth double checking.

Our guide was superb and her choices perfect for us. She was extremely knowledgeable bringing fresh views to our trip. Went from Honfleur to Normandy US sites. Driver only no guide but Gianni was on time, very professional and helped guide us through our options and keep us on track to see everything we wanted to include and get us back to our cruise line right on time.

The most memorable points of interest were Pointe du Hoc and the American Cemetery. We also visited Gold Beach, Arromanches, the Overlord Museum and Bayeux, It was all very special. Sunny made sure we got to experience what we wanted and she and Mo were very considerate of our time and making sure we had a great experience….which we did.
