The excursion in the gorge at sunset is very beautiful, the crew is truly dedicated, and the food is really great. The steak was the best I have ever eaten in Australia. Even older Australians said that.
Staff were great. Food was amazing. The gorge was wonderful experience. The guy speaking about the aboriginal art very knowledgeable.
Unfortunately due to the recent cyclone we were unable to do both gorges, so the tour was reduced by 30mins and we saw one gorge only. Scenery is spectacular particularly at sunset when the rock comes alive with colour. This remains a highlight of our trip! Guide was good but as was not wearing a microphone we were not able to hear all the commentary which is a shame. Food: bubbles on arrival, share plate of entrees all lovely. Main course was a choice of steak or barramundi. Unfortunately the barramundi did not come with a sauce and was a bit boring. Finished with pavlovas. Arrived back at the dock when it was very dark. As there isn’t any lights, finding our way back to the first carpark was interesting! Older couple walking back with us were not happy. Would have been good to have been told to park in the second carpark perhaps. Overall a memorable experience and one we highly recommend.
Dear Travel_Addicts97, Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review of your Sunset Dinner Cruise. We're delighted to hear that the experience was a highlight of your trip and that the spectacular colours of Nitmiluk Gorge at sunset left such a lasting impression. The Jawoyn people are proud to share this remarkable landscape and its stories with visitors from around the world. We appreciate your understanding regarding the temporary change to the itinerary following the recent cyclone and are pleased that you still enjoyed the evening. Thank you also for your constructive feedback about the onboard commentary, the barramundi dish, and the lighting and parking arrangements after dark. We are always looking for ways to improve our guest experience, and your comments have been shared with our team for consideration. We hope to welcome you back to Country in the future to experience the full two-gorge Sunset Dinner Cruise. Warm regards, The Nitmiluk Tours Team
A fantastic tour, the staff were all very very friendly and helpful. The food was five star and the wines (although limited) were very good. Marli, a young local girl, was our boat captain and tour guide with all the information. She was happy to answer all of our questions. We now have some great photos of the picturesque gorge and more great memories.
Thank you for your wonderful review, Mark. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your Sunset Dinner Cruise. It's fantastic to know that our team made you feel welcome, that you enjoyed the food and wines, and that Mahli's guiding helped make the experience memorable. Thank you for sharing your kind words. We're so pleased you left with great photos and even better memories of Nitmiluk Gorge and Jawoyn Country. The Nitmiluk Tours Team
The dinner was divine - surrounded by beautiful scenery. Given recent floods, we only did one gorge, but even so, it was perfect.
Dear Sunshine, Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your Sunset Dinner Cruise experience at Nitmiluk Gorge. While the recent flooding temporarily limited access to one gorge, we are very pleased to know that the beauty of the landscape, combined with the dining experience, still made the evening feel special and memorable for you. Our team takes great pride in showcasing the stunning country of the Jawoyn People alongside quality food and warm hospitality, so your kind words truly mean a lot to us. We hope to welcome you back again in the future for another Nitmiluk experience. Kind regards, The Nitmiluk Tours Team
Was very disappointed that they changed the time for a later start and we only had about half an hour of day light to see the gorge. I understand that there has been floods and could only go so far. If we had left at 4:30 pm there would have been plenty of light to see the beauty of the gorge. To be parked for over an hour to eat isn't what we expected of the cruise. This was to be a one in life time experience. The food was good and staff were great
Dear Roslynm, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not fully meet your expectations, particularly regarding the timing of the cruise and the reduced daylight during your visit to Nitmiluk Gorge. Due to the recent flooding impacts and temporary operational adjustments, some changes were necessary to ensure guest safety and the continuation of the experience while sections of the gorge system recover. We completely understand your disappointment, especially when this was intended to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. That said, we truly appreciate your understanding of the circumstances, and we are very pleased to hear you enjoyed the food and found our team welcoming and professional. We will certainly pass your lovely comments on to both our crew and culinary team. Your feedback regarding the departure timing and cruise flow is genuinely appreciated and will be shared internally as we continue refining the experience during these temporary conditions. Kind regards, The Nitmiluk Tours Team
This tour is not currently running. Only one gorge is open. This tour is supposed to run for 3 & 1/2 hours. It will be reduced to 2 & 1/2, with a small refund of $40. The cruise actually only went for 2 hours. The food was amazing, and there is lots of potential that this could be great. If you are thinking of doing this, make sure it is operating.
Thank you for your feedback, Timothy. We appreciate your understanding regarding the seasonal river conditions. During this time of year, tour operations can be affected by water levels, and while we always aim to provide the full experience, adjustments are sometimes necessary for safety reasons. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the food and could see the potential of the experience. Thank you for recommending that future guests check current tour operations before booking, and we hope to welcome you back to experience the full tour in the future. The Nitmiluk Tours Team
We were so disappointed in this tour. We booked for the 3.5 hour sunset dinner cruise covering 2 Gorges. Was advised a few days after payment of $269 per person, that the cruise will be in 1 Gorge only due to previous flooding, and the cruise would be reduced to 2.5 hours with a refund provided for the shorter cruise. Without knowing what the refund amount would be, but considering a 2 hour cruise is $139, figured a refund of around $70 per person would be reasonable. The refund processed was only $40 per person. We started cruising around 5:15pm, after an initial briefing. We really didn’t do much cruising, instead we just remained in the one location for the majority of the time. There were around 19 people on the boat. There is only one drink included in the ticket cost, any other drinks you need to pay for. The sipping sparkling wine whilst cruising is only if you drink exceptionally slow or you purchase your own. The food itself was the only redeeming factor of this activity. Troy the chef cooked up some fabulous food, which we wouldn’t normally try ourselves. At the end of the cruise, he came around and had a chat to everyone on the cruise. This review in no way reflects upon the professionalism of the chef or the quality of the meal. We returned to the jetty at 7:30pm, so our 3:5 hour cruise, that was reduced to a 2:5 hour cruise was actually only a 2 hour cruise if that. Our intimate and luxury cruise, with a maximum of 10 people, was really 19 people. Sipping sparkling wine whilst enjoying dinner came at our own expense as the one free glass of sparkling wine provided was when we first boarded. I couldn’t recommend this cruise as I do not feel it was value for money at all, nor did it deliver what it claimed it would. I also don’t get that they are still advertising this cruise for the 2 Gorges when it is not available.
Dear Campert, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. We are genuinely sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations, particularly given the special nature of our Sunset Dinner Cruise experience. Firstly, we would like to sincerely thank you for your understanding regarding the impacts of the recent flooding. Safety and operational conditions within Nitmiluk Gorge can sometimes require temporary adjustments to tour operations, and we understand how disappointing this can be when expectations are based on the full 2 Gorge itinerary. As soon as the operational changes were confirmed, our team advised guests in advance and processed partial refunds to reflect the modified experience. We appreciate your feedback regarding the refund amount and overall value perception, and we understand that this did not align with your expectations. We are, however, very pleased to hear your kind words about Chef Troy and the quality of the dining experience. Our team takes great pride in showcasing local flavours and creating memorable culinary experiences, and we will ensure your compliments are passed on to him personally. Regarding guest numbers and cruise duration, we also appreciate the feedback. During temporary operational periods following flooding, some experiences may differ from standard operations while we progressively reopen sections of the gorge system and associated infrastructure. We acknowledge your comments about the advertising and will continue reviewing how these temporary changes are communicated to ensure expectations are as clear as possible for future guests. While we are disappointed that the experience did not fully deliver the evening you were hoping for, we truly appreciate your balanced feedback and your recognition of the professionalism of our staff and chef. Kind regards, The Nitmiluk Tours Team
