Disemark med din guideguide Efter en timmes båtresa till Elephanta Island från Indiens Gateway, utforska de magnifika grottorna. De yttre grottorna användes som en plats för hinduisk tillbedjan tills portugisiska styre upprättades. Grottorna längre in är mindre och är buddhistiska grottor. Huvudgrottan, som annars kallas Shiva Cave, innehåller många carvings genom att skildra olika aspekter av Lord Shiva, inklusive hans bröllop, hans dödande av Andhaka och mer. Det kommer också att finnas en skulptur av Trimurti i huvudgrottan som är ca 20 meter lång. Övriga vingar i grottorna har helgedomar tillägnad Shivas söner, Kartikeya och Ganesh. Boka och utforska UNESCOs världsarvslista med en guide från Gharapuri, som är en liten by på södra sidan av ön.
Indiens Gateway är ett bågmonument som byggdes under 20-talet i Mumbai. Monumentet uppfördes för att fira landningen av kung-kejsaren George V och Queen-Empress Mary vid Apollo Bunder vid sitt besök i Indien 1911.

This tour was informative. I learned a lot about religion and life in the island from my Elephanta Caves guide, Sammer. My driver, Mukesh was professional & friendly. My guide, Aarti was knowledgeable, sweet, & very kind. I would highly recommend this tour which also comes with a city sightseeing tour. This tour is a ine stop shop!
