"Vit guld" – En rolig och spännande resa tillbaka till historien. Den här turen tar dig till en av världens äldsta saltgruvor som är tillgänglig för besökare vid berget Dürrnberg. Det "vita guld" som bröts där spelade en avgörande roll i Salzburgs historia och långt bortom. Om du tar på dig en traditionell gruvarbetarduk, använder ett litet gruvarbetåg och glider ner för smidigt polerade trärutschbanor kommer du att gå ner nivå för nivå och inte bara gå in i mysterierna i en värld långt inne i berget. Du kommer också att resa tillbaka i tiden i evigheter. En gruvarbetare kommer att guida dig genom att levande förklara historien och berätta spännande legendariska berättelser som den om "Man in the Salt". En höjdpunkt blir flottfärden över den underjordiska saltsjön. Med nöje och spänning kommer du att upptäcka historien om det "vita guldet" som har gömts i miljontals år.
På en eldriven båt kommer du att lämna den bullriga och hektiska vardagen bakom dig och njuta av Tysklands djupaste och renaste sjö, de bayerska alpernas juvel. Denna smaragdgröna, fjordliknande sjö tornar upp sig av de branta klippväggarna på berget Watzmann upp till 1800m och har ett djup på upp till 190m. På en liten romantisk halvö ligger landmärket för King's Lake, det antika Augustinekapellet St. Bartholomew. Det fascinerande King's lake ekot. (Under vintern från 06.11.2022 till 01.04.23 båttur inte möjlig, därför är det möjligt att spendera tid vid sjön och staden Berchtesgaden)
På vägen tillbaka till Salzburg kör vi genom den charmiga lilla staden Berchtesgaden, om tiden tillåter ett eventuellt besök i det kungliga palatset och klostret.

The tour is really well organized. My guide Shiva is really professional. He is very knowledgeable and gave me a lot of suggestions. The King’s Lake is really peaceful and I think it’s the highlight of the tour!

Highly recommend Edelweiss tours!! We did 2 private full-day tours with them, 2 days in a row from Salzburg. Doris was so helpful with planning - advising us on what to do and what to skip, as well as timing, plus recommending restaurants (& making reservations). Shiva was such an incredible tour guide! He is so knowledgeable, patient, thoughtful, and kind. He has an incredible memory but is so personable and felt like part of our family. He got to know each of us and we will never forget him! Edelweiss made these day trips from Salzburg SO easy (someone else driving, parking, securing tickets), but also added so much to the experience - our guide Shiva had so much information to share that we otherwise wouldn’t have known about. Long story short, my itinerary was changed to the Salt mine and visit to the Giant Ice Cave instead. One has to travel by Funicular up to the summit, a walk of xx metres before reaching the salt mine. Beside the introduction, history and methods of exploiting the mines, the slides from level to level and the carriage ride are something to look forward to. I have been to the Salt Mine in Poland and the latter is much more spectacular and interesting compared to this one in Durrnberg. If you have never been to one and nothing for you to compare, it is fine. The Giant Ice Cave is truly awesome, really amazing and phenomenal, simply incredible. One has to travel by cable car/furnicular up to the mountain. There is a considerably walk from the station to the cave, mostly uphill, really a test of your stamina. I am glad to have visited this unique ice treasure deep in the cave (arranged by the tour operator), unbelievably stunning and admire the power of nature. If you are doing a day tour from Salzburg, the Giant Ice Cave is not to be missed, highly recommeded !!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to the tour operator for suggesting the change !!!!! Francis Ong
