Jemaa el-Fna torget är stadens främsta attraktion, det är en av de viktigaste kulturella utrymmena i Marrakech och har blivit en av symbolerna för staden sedan grundandet på 1000-talet. Den representerar en unik koncentration av populära marockanska kulturella traditioner som utförs genom musikaliska, religiösa och konstnärliga uttryck. Under hela dagen och långt in på natten erbjuds en mängd olika tjänster, såsom tandvård, traditionell medicin, spådom, predikan och henna tatuering; vattenbärande, frukt och traditionell mat. Dessutom kan man njuta av många föreställningar av berättare, poeter, Berber musiker (Imazighen), Gnaoua dansare spelare.
Koutoubia-moskén är ett av de mest imponerande monumenten i Marrakech och en av de vackraste moskéerna i Marocko. Det präglas av en komplex historia, det är faktiskt en dubbel helgedom med en minaret. Den första Koutoubia invigdes 1157 och den andra och minareten byggdes ett år senare på order av Abdelmoumen. De två helgedomarna utmärker sig genom sin innovativa plan som ger dig en stor betydelse för qiblans vägg (bönens inriktning). Minareten, som är uppförd i sten, med en höjd på 77 m, markerar landskapet för sin närvaro och gör det möjligt att använda en ramp för att nå toppen. Bahia Palace är en 1800-talsbyggnad, som består av rum inredda med fantastiska stuckaturer, målningar och mosaikpalats och en uppsättning trädgårdar. Bahiapalatset var avsett att vara det största palatset på sin tid. Bahiapalatsets namn betyder på arabiska ”briljans”. Liksom i andra byggnader under perioden i andra länder, var det avsett att fånga kärnan i den islamiska och marockanska stilen. Det finns en 8 000 m2 stor trädgård med rum som vetter mot innergårdar i Bahiapalatset. Bahiapalatset inrättades i slutet av 1800-talet av Si Moussa, sultanens storvesir, för hans personliga bruk, Bahiapalatset skulle bära namnet på en av hans fruar. Här finns haremet, som omfattar en stor domstol dekorerad med ett centralt handfat och omgiven av rum avsedda för konkubinerna. När den svarta slaven Abu Ahmed steg till makten och rikedomen mot slutet av 1800-talet lät han bygga Bahiapalatset genom att ta in hantverkare från Fez. Antagning är: 100MAD för varje (10 Euro)
Ben Youssef Madrasa är en av de största och vackraste ikonerna för andalusisk-berber arkitektur i Marocko. Den grundades av sultan Abou al Hasan på 1300-talet och byggdes därefter om och berikades av Saadidynastin. Resultatet är det ännu mer extravaganta dekorerade monumentet som står bredvid Ben Youssef-moskén i Marrakech. Nu ett museum, den tidigare madrasa har 130 celler byggda för att rymma de nästan 900 studenter som studerade Koranen och andra vetenskapliga och religiösa ämnen här. Detta är en plats väl värd att besöka om du vill förstå arabisk kultur och den islamiska religionen.

This was a great tour. We saw all of major sites and souks in the Medina. Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. He even got us into a rooftop restaurant that we couldn’t get in. I would definitely recommend this tour to everybody.

Ahmed was well versed with the history of Morocco. We liked that he gave us the option of the places we wanted to visit and we were able to skip the queue as he was an official tour guide. We learned about the origin of the words and the cultural changes over the past dynasties up until the most recent updates with the architecture and politics. We also got guidance with navigation within the souks by showing us how it used to be categorised. He helped us take photos as we go along our tour and finally lead us to a reasonably priced restaurant within the city square.

The tour was educational and informative. Tour guide Said is very knowledgeable. He thoroughly guided us through the maze-like alleys and was able to help with shopping for original items vs knock-offs. Clarification is needed on entry fees to the historical sites. While booking app indicated entry tickets were included in the tours, it turns out clients have to pay admission fees in some places. Otherwise, it was good morning tour to set the pace for the rest of the day. Beware of the usual tourist traps where clients are ushered into rest places where it turns into unexpected shopping up sells.
