Beskrivning

Nice initiation

Very nice experience. We made fekkas and almond cakes including gazelle horns. We tasted some of the pastries with mint tea and left with a full box. Can't wait to make more at home! Djemila hardly spoke French but we understood.

Fun with family

So much fun to learn how to make traditional cookies! The staff was welcoming and explained how to do each step and sent the recipes after the class.

Not as good as expected

This was ok, but could have been far better. It was advertised as "3 hours (approx.)" in duration, but was less than 2 hours in total, including over 30 minutes for Moroccan tea and sampling our creations at the end. Our instructor didn't speak French or English, so communication was limited and we had to rely on occasional explanations from another member of staff who occasionally joined is. We probably spent only about 30 minutes actually making pastries, and then the instructor did a lot of the making, possibly because they could not communicate what we should be doing. We were not involved in the cooking at all. We were underwhelmed compared to other experiences we tried.

Hello Christopher Thank you very much for your taking time to leave the review about the experience Concenring the duration, the maximum is 3 hours if we have big group of 10 people or over as the baking time is also included in that duration For the date of the experience, you were only 2 people, same pastries were made but less timing due to the number , its normal The assistant was there to explain what you will be making and also if you had any questions and the chef was there to guide you and show you the technics, its very hands on experience, its all about watching and using hands The recipes were sent after as well For the baking, it's the step to put the pastries in the oven and waiting for it, nothing involved

Sharing and generosity

We had a great afternoon. We made 3 different pastries. Everyone was able to get their hands in a hurry! It smelled like orange blossom, aniseed, almonds... We feasted during and even after, since we left with a box filled with our sweets.

Great place and very warm experience

Very nice experience with a patissiere and a young translator. Very warm and everything is done to explain, facilitate the practice of there pastry and help us make beautiful gazelle horns and beautiful pastries. Intercultural experience with participants from different countries and generations.

Underwhelmed. More teaching needed.

Given the glowing reviews here, we were quite underwhelmed with our class tbh. It was a nice intimate setting and the pastries we made were yummy, but we felt the teaching and explanation side of things were lacking. We found out more about pastries in the cultural context on our food tour where pastry was just one of the many stops than we did in this pastry class. No explaining how this fits in with morrocan culture like as gifts or for greeting guests, what types of pastries are there. Even with the techniques and ingredients, as the teacher didn’t speak English or French, we felt we couldn’t understand how to correct our techniques or was confused what ingredients were used. (Had thought she said coffee but looking at recipe after it was cacao.) It was fine to have a non English speaking lady show us how to do it, but the English speaking host could have divulged a lot more information in between when she did come check on us or sit with us when we were eating our treats with tea to share and have a more interactive experience. It was also advertised as 3 hours long, but the whole thing was wrapped up before 2 hours. Maybe we have been spoilt with more engaging experiences so felt this experience was a bit too surface level for us.

Thank you very much Elsie for taking time to leave review about the experience and we are glad that you liked the fruit of your work and thats the point of it Concerning the duration of the experience its 2 hours to 2,5 depending on the group size, you were only 2 peoole that day so the class was 2 hours Its Hands on class so you got involved in all the steps feom the beginning to the end and thats why we have glowing reviews only . The class is to learn how to make pastries Moroccan way, practical while the food tour is about the food culture, different experiences for sure The chef does speak only basic english but the assistant was there at the workshop to explain and to answer your questions, we apologise if the experience didn't mert your expectations

A great time in the kitchen

We had a great time during the pastry course with a great chef! In a very friendly atmosphere with lots of good advice, and we leave with our delicious pastries! We also learned how to make Moroccan tea and serve it.
