Besök en traditionell olivoljeproducent för att lära dig mer om olivolja och njuta av en provsmakning av förstklassig lokal olivolja. Beundra Aposelemidammen och den delvis nedsänkta byn Sfendili innan du provsmakar lokala raki och hemlagade delikatesser. Följ gamla minoiska stigar genom bergen, besök en lokal herde, mata getterna och smaka på nygjord traditionell ost. Stanna till vid en panoramautsikt över Lassithi-platån och den historiska minoiska rutten och njut sedan av en traditionell kretensisk lunch med lokalt vin. Avsluta dagen i den pittoreska byn Krasi, hem till sitt berömda 2000 år gamla platanträd och naturliga vår, innan du återvänder till ditt hotell.

Detta är det bästa sättet att utforska centrala Kreta med platåer, gamla stigar och djurliv. Vår resa börjar från ditt hotell som tar oss igenom de spektakulära bergen på Kreta som vi besöker Aposelemis bassängbehållare och en forntida romersk akvedukt. Härifrån besöker vi byn Kastamonitsa som ligger inbäddat vid foten av Afendi-bergen, där du kommer att uppleva frukost i kretensisk stil och bli introducerad till en lokal produkt, Raki. Stäng dig nu efter smutsspår, följ den minoiska vägen som går genom bergspass, upplev spektakulära vilda djur, otroligt landskap, mytologi, historia och njut av att se den lokala naturen som bäst. Här, högt uppe i bergen, stannar vi vid en herde Mitato där vi kan mata djuren medan vi ser herdar producera ost på det traditionella, gammaldags sättet och till och med smaka på denna friska, rika delikatess. Nästa stopp är en fågelperspektiv över platån i Lassithi och nordkusten, en fantastisk fotomöjlighet att inte missa. Vi fortsätter mot Diction grottan, födelseplatsen för Zeus. Det ingår en avgift på 4 € och vandringsskor rekommenderas. Efter uppbyggnad och aptit går vi till lunch i en lokal tavern där du har möjlighet att prova ett urval av traditionella lokala förrätter och huvudrätter (vegetariskt alternativ tillgängligt) och njuta av ett glas eller två av det obegränsade vinet! När vi är uppdaterade fortsätter vi till Lassithi som besöker Lassinthos Eco Park där traditionellt hantverk och det lokala livet kan upplevas. Sedan vidare till Lassithi-platån där tiden praktiskt taget har stått stilla, är lokalbefolkningen främst jordbrukare. Du kommer också att se många åsnor på jobbet. Vi tar oss sedan till Seli, där vi återigen har möjlighet att ta bilder av detta unika landskap. När vi fortsätter att köra når vi byn Krassi, som är känd för ett 2000 år gammalt planträd och också har en naturlig källvattenkälla. När du lämnar Krassi, slingrar sig nerför bergsvägarna och förbi bara några av de många olivträdgårdarna på ön, kommer du igen att se den spektakulära kustlinjen och djupblå havet. Detta är en dag full av många överraskningar.
Se den sjunkna byn Sfedoni vid Aposelemis dammen och ta några fantastiska bilder
Besök den pittoreska byn Kastamonitsa och gå med lokalbefolkningen för att smaka på vin och den berömda kretensiska olivoljan. Kör efteråt upp i bergen för att besöka en lokal herde och ha chansen att mata några getter och prova lite av den hemgjorda osten.

A really enjoyable trip exploring off the beaten track - the scenery was amazing & would have been inaccessible without the Land Rover. Darrel our guide was an excellent driver & had an amazing knowledge of the local flora & fauna & of Cretan history so we learnt a lot through. Lunch at a traditional taverna was also delicious & an authentic way to finish the day.

A beautiful day exploring the Lasithi plateau with a Guide who loves his job. Attention the entrance to the zeus cave is extra and is not included in the Award of the excursion. It’s also a shame that we came back an hour earlier than the time indicated by the person who sold us the tour. The Award is a little high. We still loved this trip.

It was amazing to be able to see the 'middle' of Crete........amazing mountains which are hidden just touring the highways surrounding this beautiful island. Fun to see the goats so accustomed to people. Christian was an excellent guide and really had to work explaining the sites to our group, both in French & English. Lunch was an amazing treat.... thoroughly enjoyed all of the local food!
