Resplan

Highly recommend this tour as an ideal option for anyone not keen on hiking, i did this on the thrid day in Cusco, I was not much acclimatised but didn't feel much hurdle during the trek as we rode the ATVs pretty much closer to the summit.
Our family had a great time going to Rainbow Mountain on ATV’s. Even though the weather did not cooperate and the mountain was snow covered, the experience was still amazing. We did see a little color before we descended back down the mountain.
I received texts to let me know exactly when I would be picked up. Arturo, Yadi and our driver were very kind and helpful; they matched the trip description perfectly. I couldn't have asked for a better excursion.
This was a great adventure and wonderful end to our trip. The hour long ATV ride to and from the base had beautiful scenery. Instructors gave quick and easy explanations for the ATV’s. Our favorite part was the walk down the mountain as we watched hikers question their life choices going up. Only down side was the 3 hour commute from Cusco starting at 4 in the morning and the cold temperatures in the early morning. Come prepared by wearing layers to include gloves and a hat that can be easily removed because it will warm up as the sun comes out. If you’re an inexperienced hiker at high altitudes I would 100% suggest this tour.
The ATV tour to Rainbow Mountain was a lot of fun. We had plenty of training on how to use the ATVs, and we had to do minimal uphill walking as we were taken to the top on dirt bikes. Highly recommend the experience. Getting up at 3 am. is tough, but the experience makes up for it. Make sure to bring a jacket and good warm gloves as the mornings was very cold when we went, but only for about 1 hour and after it warms up with the sun in late June.
Our guides were great! Rainbow Mountain amazing! And riding the ATVs such fun!! Just an overall great experience, one of the best tours we have taken in South America!!
It was much colder and wetter than we expected! Foggy at the summit, so tough to see the brilliance of the rainbow mountain, but it was still so worth it! The ATV / quad bikes were so fun and a fantastic way to make the trek up the mountain. And even though it was foggy, we still got the experience of standing on top of the mountain and enjoying the breath taking view (though freezing & snowing on us)! There was a 45-min walk down from the summit back to the ATVs that was an unexpected highlight with beautiful vistas and amazing colors the entire way! We couldn’t stop taking pictures and commenting on the awe of it all (still freezing). Our guides were so wonderful (Arturo, in particular) in taking care of us and making sure we got what we needed to stay safe, as warm as possible and having fun. The drive back to Cuzco is long and boring, but good for a nap! All in all, no regrets, absolutely will do an ATV tour on future vacations (this was a first for us), truly exemplified the natural beauty of Peru and can’t recommend it enough!
I wemt to rainbow mountain with a group of approx 14 people. It takes a long time to get there from cusco (approx 4 hours). We left at 8am. Lunch on the way approx 1030 included, we then had another 2 hours of travel to the bottom of the mountai, where there is what looks like a shanty town - set up to take money from tourists. There are toilets - where you pay S2- and loads of little shops (made from corrigated iron). Anyway, next we meet our atvs, which we'll drive to nearly the top of the mountain. We go along a track that winds up through the alpacas and llamas grazing (this is real rural peru - and not done for tourists). Once we gwt near the top, we stop and walk up the last 10-15 mins. The best views are from the high spot, but you get nearer the rainbow mountain on the easier lower route. After about 30 minutes, the guides are trying to get you back to the coach. We came back down to the bikes and had to wait for the guude to finish getting hrr photo taken on the big forks (the ourpose of which i did not find out). So why such a hurry? Anyway, back down the mountain track and back to the mini bus. We were told it was 4 hours - no stop. So we all obediently went to the toilet. Wr stopped in a small town for a comfort stop and managed to blag a coffee. Then onwards to cusco, via a traffic jam, to cusco for about 8pm in the dark. While thid trip was 12 hours mainly sitting in a bus for 30 minutes on the mountain. Much more o. The mountain would have been too much. Apart from the altitude 5036m, and rosk of altitude sickness, there is not much to do up there. But this trip gives you so much more than just the mountain. You go east of cusco into the back woods and see and wave(!) to real local people who as yet are only lightly touched by tourism. You see them working in the fields. You see them spinning wool by the roadside, cutting hay with a scythe, and picking corn. So think of it as a trip through old peru, with a bonus look at rainbow mountain and you'll enjoy it all the more. Excellent way to spend a day.
Overall, this experience was fun, and rainbow mountain is absolutely beautiful. However, there is only 45 minutes of total ATV time, and the ATV trail is very underwhelming. It is a great alternative to walking as the altitude is very high. The tour operators did pick us up a bit late, and we did not get to see the viewpoints after. However, rainbow mountain is a must see in Cusco, and overall the operators did well.
Sensational, it is a unique experience. The landscapes you travel to reach the mountain of 7 colors are unique! The Quad bikes makes it even cooler. The excellent guides, all organized and on time, the meals were pretty good.
