Nizwa är den största staden i Ad Dakhiliyah-regionen i Oman och var huvudstaden i Oman. Nizwa är ca 140 km (1,5 timmar) från Muscat. Befolkningen uppskattas till cirka 700 000 personer inklusive de två områdena Burkat Al Mooz och Al Jabel Al Akhdar. Nizwa är en av de äldsta städerna i Oman och det var en gång ett handelscentrum, religion, utbildning och konst. Dess Jama (stora moskén) var tidigare ett centrum för islamiskt lärande. Nizwa förvärvade sin betydelse eftersom den har varit en viktig mötesplats vid basen av västra Hajarberget. Ligger mitt i en spridning av dagpalmer är den strategiskt belägen vid korsningen av vägar som förbinder interiören med Muskat och de nedre delarna av Dhofar, som därmed fungerar som länken för en stor del av landet. Idag är Nizwa ett varierat välmående ställe med många jordbruks-, historiska och rekreationsaspekter. Nizwa är ett centrum för datum växande och är marknaden för området.

Idag är det en av de mest populära turistattraktionerna med sina historiska byggnader och imponerande fort. Nizwa Fort står som en levande påminnelse om den viktiga status som staden Nizwa en gång höll som omans politiska och kulturella huvudstad.
Nizwa är också känt för sina silversmycken och handgjorda omanska dolkar (khanjar) som finns i Nizwa Souq, det är platsen att handla souvenirer.
Trodde att vara en av de äldsta forten i Oman känd för sina keramikverkstäder och dess enorma lerafort
Jabreen Castle är över 300 år gammalt och anses vara en av Omans mest fascinerande och attraktiva byggnader med sin invecklat inredda interiör.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Through my trusted agency at least 6 months ago I had booked a private tour, for two people, of a day for the tour of Nizwa , Birket and Wadi, recommending, until the day before the exit, an experienced and experienced guide. In the morning we found a person, dressed in a modest way, presenting himself as our guide sent by the agency. As soon as we got into the dirty car, we immediately knew that it was absolutely not a guide and immediately I wrote to the tour company in the area to express my great opposition and perplexity and the answer was that they would “investigate” to see exactly if that person was licensed to carry tourists around. NEVER HAD AN ANSWER, even though it's been 5 days since all this happened! During the day this person never explained anything to us, in the car he was constantly talking on his cell phone and as soon as we stopped he would start smoking telling us “go there and look around”. The only answers he often gave us were incorrect and when I asked him about his origins and to show me his travel guide card he told me that “he was Tunisian, he was alone 4 years in Oman and that the card had expired while waiting for the new one”. The visits to the sites were without any explanation and at lunchtime, which we skipped because very displeased, he wanted to take us to a place that already from outside described the dirt and basicity. The return a three-hour journey without stops and without a word from him, driving too fast and with the great risk of a SERIOUS ACCIDENT almost upon arrival at the hotel where we were literally unloaded without even receiving a greeting. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS AGENCY for the absolute lack of seriousness, professionalism and honesty.
Team at the top , at each of the excursions organized, for the boat trips of the friendly crews and decorating each trip a little more, perfect organization , despite the distance from our hotel , the transfers were perfect , punctual , friendly , drivers at the top! We can only congratulate this organization for continuing to guarantee a stay in Oman that lives up to expectations. Thank you.

Well organized day Pick up by bus at the hotel on time. Lots of road to go to Muscat Nizwa. The places visited are superb and enchanting. Nizwa's souk was great with lots of Omani specialties and no soliciting tourists. Very nice. On the other hand, we were all disappointed to have no explanation on the places visited by our guide who was content to give us meeting points and return times. We were not offered an audio guide either while there were some at Jabreen Castle.
