Hands-On Costa Rican Bread Making Workshop i Monteverde

Really lovely cooking experience! We have two boys, ages 8 and 13, and they both walked away sharing how much fun they had. The pace is quick and engaging, with little down time, which was great for everyone, but especially two kids. The food was delicious and the kids were excited to take home the extras. I enjoyed talking with our host who shared about her family farm, growing up in the area, and traditions of her family. Highly recommend for an experience that is unique, meaningful, and off the beaten path. We had the 10am session and I wished we would have had a smaller breakfast at our hotel that morning - we made a lot of bread and the empanadas were also very filling! This has been a highlight of our trip to Monteverde and the price was right for the value of the experience.

We love doing local food tours but had never done a cooking class before today. My husband loves baking/cooking and we thought it was be amazing to not only eat local, but learn how to make it ourselves as well. Yolanda and Orlando were our teachers and they were fantastic throughout. We ended up with a private class which was also pretty cool. The empanadas were incredibly delicious, especially with sugar cane water and The bread was a perfect way to wrap it up. We even had extra that will make great snacks/breakfast tomorrow. The farm itself is beautiful, with stunning views. I can’t wait to get home and try to make these ourselves now. Thank you so much for this unique experience and for opening your homes to us!!

We spent 10 days in Costa Rica and this experience topped our list as the best thing we did. The bread making is done at their farm with a stunning view over the hillside. We wanted to practice our Spanish and we were able to do that for the full two hours. Carolina was so patient with us and incredibly friendly. She obviously loves what she does. The bread we made was fantastic and we were able to take it with us. We also made empanadas and had those there while the rest of the bread was baking. I am so happy that I discovered this tour! I highly recommend it!!

We had an incredible time on this tour making bread and chicken empanadas. Our host was absolutely amazing—so welcoming, patient, and wonderful with guests of all ages. The experience was hands-on, fun, and the food was incredibly delicious. The property itself is stunning, with absolutely breathtaking views, and we were lucky enough to see monkeys and coatis during our visit. This was a truly memorable experience and something we would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Our family of six visited the farm for a bread making and empanada making class and we are so so happy that we did this. First, the view is unbeatable- so beautiful. The class was really fun, very easy and the food was delicious! Best of all though were the people. This tour is run by a family, they care very much about their farm and each other and it shows. This was a wonderful experience in Monteverde. They’ll arrange transport for you if needed.

I loved this experience so much! I went with my friend back in Oct and still thinking about what a great experience it was! Carolina was very attentive and knowledgeable, and we made so many delicious bread! We ended eating them over the next couple of days on our long bus journeys. The empanadas she taught us how to make were delicious too. The views while you’re cooking are just stunning, it really adds to the experience. We paid a little extra for transfers and the driver was very punctual and helpful too.

An absolutely magical place and experience! Got to learn how to make empanadas that were the best I’ve ever tasted and pan casero that were dangerously good! Carolina and Orlando’s love and passion for their family farm shows in everything they do and it’s impossible not to fall in love with this place. If you’re visiting Monteverde, don’t miss out on a really special experience.

We loved this cultural experience! We have three teenagers and it has been one the most favorite activities of our time here in Costa Rica, we walked away with a bag full of bread and empanadas! 10/10 would recommend, well worth 2 hours of your time to support this beautiful local family farm business!

My friend and I had a great time at this cooking class. Carolina is insightful, friendly and a delight to bake with. We also got to leave with HEAPS of bread. Would highly recommend supporting this local family run farm on your next visit to Monteverde.
