One of the best tour guides ( ANDRA) we even had! Take it! Do not miss out... Take it! Do not miss out...
Best art nuvo style street. In a center of city. Very interest history of those street, several architects.Street is a museum by itself.
Both walks were very special and beautiful! What a beautiful city.......the Art Nouveau walk on Sunday morning was fairytale!
If you travel to that city, I asked for information as there are 2 streets outside the city frame that are pure Art Nouveau
This tour seems to have some mixed reviews - mainly based on trouble meeting up - but we have nothing but good to say about it. We met the guide (Maria - if my memory serves me) as planned at the Latvian Riflemen monument and found that my wife and i were the only people on the tour. Despite that, we got a very very full tour and it was absolutely a highlight of our trip to Riga. We had a very thorough walk around both the old town and the Art Nouveau district. Maria was very knowledgeable and pointed out a lot of details of the places that we passed which we would absolutely have missed had we been on our own. She was very pleasant and able to explain things to us in a clear and non patronising way, she had a good sense of humour and really made the tor enjoyable for us. The tour was quite long (3 hours) but a lot of that was standing and looking at things so it wasn't hard work at all. I would very strongly recommend this tour.
The beautifully decorated facades of the Art Nouveau houses are, in addition to the multitude of churches, a must for every Riga visitor. Accessible quickly and cheaply by public transport.
Mikhail Eisenmann who became a city councilor in Riga in 1893 is the "head" of these creative facades and buildings.Peacock heads, masks. Sculptures, blue façade elements are his architectural compositions. In Audejustr., Albertastr.,Smilsustr. are other Art Nouveau objects worth seeing. In the upswing of the 20th century In the 20th century, these beautifully decorated buildings were created.Fifty objects alone bear the ironman's signature. However, some houses have been severely affected and require renovation.
My husband and I arrived at the old town Square and located the Latvian soldier statue at 10:45 a. M there were many tourists milling around and tours in Russian, French Spanish and German gathering. I was looking for someone near the Occupation Museum (currently and temporarily housed) in the former American embassy. As 11 am approached I went to tour guides at Red Bus and Get on Hop off and free Riga tours to ask if they knew the guide for the Art Nouveau. Noone knew. We waited till 11:15 and then left. The local agency didn't answer their phone. Later they claimed the guide said he/she was there and called my telephone but I didn't get a call. Is looking for a sign, an umbrella, a logo. We have berm on many such tours and that's how guides identify themselves. We later walked to most of the stops listed and loved the art nouveau buildings. I'm disappointed that viator is not accepting the word of someone who had been on as many tours as I have in the last 2 months and reviewed them all.
I recently booked a tour with Viator to visit Riga, Latvia. The instructions were to meet at the Museum of the Occupation. I was able to find it on Google and Google maps and went to the location. When the time arrived for the tour, the tour guide did not appear so I called Viator who called the local guide. The local guide called me but I was barely able to understand her English. I kept telling her that we were at the museum and all she did was yell at me and say no,, that is not possible, you are not at the museum. After a few phone calls it was clear that we were getting no help from the local guide and I gave up. While walking around the town on our own we saw another museum with exactly the same name. Hard to believe the tour guide did not tell us that there were two museums in Riga with exactly the same name. When we arrived at home, we contacted Viator and asked for a refund of a substantial fee that was charged. They denied it twice without ever addressing the issues, just saying we should have found the second museum. Very unfair. We will never use Viator again as they have no interest in taking care of their customers.

Wonderfully balanced tour. Enjoyed time on our own as it town is wonderful with everything so close and easy.
