If you're considering a private tour in Madeira, I highly recommend Diogo! We spent two full days with him exploring both the west and east sides of the island, and after such a fantastic experience, we also booked him for our airport transfer at the end of our stay. From the start, Diogo's communication was excellent. He worked with us to create a customized itinerary based on what we wanted to experience. During our tours, it was clear how much thought and care he puts into every detail. He planned our days to maximize the sights while avoiding the busiest tourist crowds whenever possible. As he got to know us and our interests, he even added a few unplanned stops that he knew we would enjoy. Diogo has an exceptional sense for pacing his tours. He gave us all the time we wanted to enjoy each stop while thoughtfully structuring the day, so we experienced everything on our itinerary without ever feeling rushed. His vehicle was spotless and comfortable, and we always felt completely safe with him behind the wheel. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the island, sharing fascinating history, local culture, and insights that made every stop even more meaningful. Our driver/guide Ricardo took us around Funchal and showed us everything he recommended and also what we wanted to see: Botanical gardens, fishing village Camara de Lobos, sea cliff Cabo Girao, drove to Monte village where we took a thrilling toboggan ride ( local most popular tourist attraction), visiting the statue of Christ overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Ricardo made the day so much fun knowing all the ins and outs. We want to return and explore more.

An excellent way to get a sense of Madeira beyond Funchal. Pre-tour communication was excellent and the cruise ship pick up super convenient. Diogo proved highly personable, informative and accommodating. We’ll definitely employ his services again when we next visit.
