Four seconds, that was the longest time across the whole trip that there was any period of quiet across the journey. The guide was so loud that it was impossible to hear anyone in our party or hold any sort of conversation. It completely spoiled the trip. It was completely let down by the guide, who essentially shouted his way through the whole trip. Right from the moment the boat left, the "guide" gave his view of the river and what's around. Some of it would be fine, but he just needs to stop shouting or telling people about his personal life. The fish & chips were pretty good, fresh & warm, better than we expected. The cruise itself was ok, nice trip along the river. If you go, let's hope you don't get Andy shouting at you for the whole trip.

Nice boat trip with a very nice crew and good food

Used a gift voucher from my daughter on 9th July 2026. On boarding the boat we were informed our fish and chip meal - recorded on the crew's list along with a dozen others - had already been handed to someone else who apparently they couldn't identify and were unable to replace the meal. The cruise itself was OK, especially as it was a hot sunny day. The person in charge of the crew advised me he had already notified the office and they would be in touch to resolve the missing meal issue. This didn't happen, and after two months of phone calls and emails between myself, City Cruises and Red Letter Days I finally received some recompense. Throughout the process City Cruises were unhelpful in the extreme, refusing to acknowledge or resolve the matter and no word of apology at any level in the company. Without the admirable intervention of Red Letter I would have received nothing. Beware should you need to ever complain to this company.

Good value for money / staff were very pleasant- all and all a lovely peaceful little trip up the river

Lovely boat ride through the river ouss! Our Captain, Scott, was amazing! His commentary was just enough to keep us listening, which went well with taking in all the views. Would 100% reccomend for a rainy day like we had.

This was a peaceful, fun and interesting way to spend an hour/hour and a half in the evening. The fish and chips were absolutely just right and there was a bar with friendly staff on board too! The commentary was interesting and the music played in between was at just the right volume so you could still chat while watching the world pass by. The boat was really clean, which given that you are eating and moving on water is worth noting :)

Absolutely loved this trip which I booked for me and my sister. From the moment we boarded we were made to feel so welcome, bar staff incredibly helpful and they also brought the fish and chips within 10 mins of boarding. The food was piping hot and a good sized portion. Great background music in between the guides commentary which was very interesting. All in all we loved it and worth every penny-very highly recommended!

We have just disembarked from a rather special fish and chips cruise this evening which included an amazing "eclipse" experience. Cannot fault the staff on board, the delicious fish and chips, which included a gluten free option too. The music played on board, especially once the eclipse began was fabulous. Well done to whoever put that playlist together. You made a memorable holiday even more memorable. Highly, highly recommended. Whoops, forgot to say thank you too for the "eclipse glasses" that we were all given. Wonderful touch. Thank you
