Vi kommer att gräva i marknader och gamla vermuterias, konditorier och dunrestauranger, men vi hittar också Sants puls i några samtida kulinariska projekt. På vår Sants-mattur kommer vi att besöka många av dessa grannskapsinstitutioner, både gamla och nya, för att få en smak av hur livet i Barcelona var innan staden blev den globala hotspot som den är idag. Vi börjar med en rejäl frukost i det nyrestaurerade Mercat de Sants – i verksamhet sedan 1913 – och provsmakar vad som erbjuds från försäljarna inuti. När vi fortsätter genom grannskapet kommer vi att titta förbi några av dess många matbutiker och restauranger, både gamla och nya, och smaka på populära rätter från menyer som ändras efter säsong. Längs vägen stannar vi vid gamla skolans bodegor och barer för att njuta av lite vermut med tapas bland vinfaten och på små bagerier och chokladbutiker för handgjorda godis.
Vi lämnar dock inte Sants utan ett besök på ett av stadsdelens mest unika sociala och kulturella projekt, en massiv 1800-talstextilfabrik som efter årtionden av nedläggning har förvandlats av lokalbefolkningen till ett livligt kulturcentrum – ett som till och med har egen bar och mikrobryggeri. Över en drink och fler bitar av Sants-mat får vi lära oss om historien om samhällsorganisering i Sants och vad som gör det här området så speciellt. När allt kommer omkring är det inte varje dag som du får en chans att gå utanför nätet medan du fortfarande är i hjärtat av staden.

We were a group of 3 with a fantastic guide who shared the history of Sants and the foods Catalonian’s eat daily. Well organized as All of the stops were waiting for us with tables set! Our guide served us portions from the market, specialty cheese, meats and chocolates with complete explanations of their heritage and importance in Catalonia diet. We were never rushed, and questions were welcomed. A great experience eating and drinking through Sants!

What a wonderful experience!! I can't say enough about this 1/2 day off the grid food tour. We started our vacation with it learning so much about the city and the history. Sema was such a wonderful guide; she was so knowledgable and fun and it made for a great day! We enjoyed every minute of the tour with her. We loved being in a section of the city we otherwise may not have visited.

This tour was incredible! Our tour guide Guilluame was awesome! He showed us a side of Barcelona that we never would have seen if we didn't do the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about food, history, and the neighborhood. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious and my shellfish allergy was easily accommodated. Easily one of the best and most unique experiences we have had traveling.
