Dagstur till San Sebastián från Bilbao: Loyola Sanctuary & Getaria

Från Bilbao går vi mot provinsen Gipuzkoa och passerar genom städer som Eibar, Elgoibar och Azkoitia. Vi kommer att nå helgedomen Loyola, där vi besöker födelseplatsen för Ignatius av Loyola, den mest kända figuren i området. Vi fortsätter vår resa längs Zumaias kust och anländer till fiskebyn Getaria, där vi kommer att besöka dess historiska centrum. Vi fortsätter genom Zarauz och kommer slutligen fram till San Sebastian där du har ledig tid att äta lunch och njuta av en av de bästa gastronomierna i världen. Efter lunch besöker vi Mount Igeldo varifrån vi kommer att kunna se den fantastiska utsikten över La Concha Bay.

Very pleasant tour with a very personable and helpful guide. Stephane. He was courteous and helpful to an old man with a cane making sure I kept up, advised me, in advance of any difficulties I might encounter with stairs and steep slopes.

Excellent trip to see a variety of interesting places: Loyola, and the sanctuary dedicated to St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Jesuits; the fishing village of Getaria, with its view of the sea and its association with Juan Sebastian Elcano, the first man to circumnavigate the world; then a very nice visit to the resort city of San Sebastian with its old town, beach, and great views. Highly recommended day trip from Bilbao!

It is a good mix of guided and free time. Some inclined walking, so keep in mind. Great picture stops also. We could even see Biarritz across the water!

This was our second tour with Stefan. He has a deep and broad knowledge that brings not only the places to life but the journey in between (and a quirky sense of humour to boot!). Loyolla is fascinating, if compact, being the beginnings of the Jesuit order. Getaria is a nice break in the journey to San Sebastian. San Sebastian is incredible and probably deserves at least a whole day to itself, if not a stay in its own right.
