Wat Rong Khun är den bästa höjdpunkten i Chiangrai, grundad 1997 av den mest kända konstnären i Thailand som heter Chalermchai Kositpipat. Detta är ett unikt tempel som sticker ut genom den vita färgen och användningen av glasbitar i gipset, gnistrande i solen. Den vita färgen betyder Buddhas renhet och templets arkitektur kombinerar den moderna thailändska och Lanna Thai-designen som symboliserar den buddhistiska himlen.
Den gyllene triangeln är gränsen mellan 3 länder gå med; Thailand, Myanmar och Laos på ett ställe. Det är 9 kilometer norr om Chiang Saen längs Mekongs flodväg. Sop Ruak är platsen där Mekongfloden, gränsen mellan Thailand och Laos, möter Ruakfloden, gränsen mellan Thailand och Myanmar. Tidigare var Gyllene triangeln världens stora källa till narkotikahandel på grund av dess privilegierade läge knutet till många länder. Däremot tas den för närvarande väl om hand och blir en populär turistattraktion. Från utsiktsplatsen kommer turisterna att hitta landet som förbinder de tre länderna, omgivet av långa och lugna Mae Kong-floden.
Templets konstruktion initierades av lokalsamhället 1996 för att ersätta ett gammalt övergivet tempel som tidigare stod på platsen, även om byggandet inte startade förrän 2005. Dess slutliga design realiserades av den lokala konstnären Sala Nok. Wat Rong Suea Ten översätts till "Den dansande tigerns hus". Templet fick sitt namn efter tigrarna som en gång vandrade i området. Buddhabilden i kapellet är mer än sex meter hög och går tillbaka till 2008. Den heter Buddha Rajamongkol Bodhi Trilokanat.
Wat Huay Pla Kang grundades 2005, designad av en sann visionär, vilket förklarar dess ovanliga stil som är känd för sin unika arkitektur, byggd med kinesisk-Lanna-stil. Templet har tre huvudsakliga platser att uppleva såsom ; - Guanyin-statyn är en av huvudattraktionerna, av misstag kallad Big Lady Buddha, Guan Yin var legenden om buddhistiska "gudinna som är en viktig gudom i Mahayanas buddhistiska skola. I den här delen kan vi ta hissen till toppen av statyn på våning 25-26 och se utsikten över Chiang Rai från Guanyin-statyns huvud.
Mae Khachan Hot Spring ligger halvvägs från Chiangmai till Chiangrai som är omgivet av berg, rankas som en av de bästa varma källorna i norr som inte bara har en underbart naturlig syn på norr utan också en hel del intressant inuti vilken locka både thailändska och utländska besökare. Det finns trevligt mineralvatten för fötterna att blötlägga i trädgården för avkoppling, och resenärer kan också köpa kycklingägg att koka i det naturliga varma vattnet och ta en god kaffe från höglandet i Chiangrai.

It was a long 13-hour day, but a truly memorable experience! Our guide, M, was excellent. He drove safely, kept the car spotless and well air-conditioned, and provided us with cold water and tasty local snacks throughout our journey. He also regularly checked in to see if we needed bathroom or stretch breaks, which made the long drives much more manageable. Our first stop was the Thaweesin Chiang Rai Hot Springs. We got the opportunity to soak our feet in the warm thermal water which was very relaxing. Every now and then a straight stream of water would shoot up in the air by the entrance to this place, a chance to take an awesome photo! Be sure to visit the roti food stand where the owner will make fresh roti with all sorts of fillings. We shared the banana roti which tasted amazing! The temples were stunning, especially the Blue Temple, which was our favorite of the day. The boat ride on the Mekong River was a fun and unique experience. Although the Laos border was closed that day and we couldn’t cross over, we still really enjoyed learning about the Golden Triangle’s history and seeing the point where three countries meet. M our tour guide took lots of fantastic photos of us, a perk of choosing a private guide over a public one. You can ask as many questions as you want and the pace is yours only. Overall, we’re glad we did the tour, but it’s definitely a long haul. If you have the time, we’d recommend spreading it out over two days for a more relaxed pace. Still, it was a fantastic way to see some of Northern Thailand’s most iconic landmarks in a single trip.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience with Mr. Big on 2/7/25. Picked us up at hotel, drove to all destinations while chatting with us in learning more about Thailand. He took us around the popular temples in bypassing the tour bus crowds while taking our pictures which looked professional. The boat ride to Golden Triangle and Laos was exceptional, having beer and exploring the market with its different knockoff items. Was a very long day that ended 13 hours after it started. I highly recommend Mr. Big for your tour guide to ask for. A good guide!!

John was my fabulous guide. He was like a walking encyclopedia with lots of information. He was patient, a great photographer, cab driver, and humorous. The tour is one of the highlights of my trip . The WHITE temple was gorgeous! Ask for John if possible.
