En av de få naturliga varma källorna i norra Thailand, Mae Kachan Hot Spring (Mae Ka Chan är så varm – och når temperaturer på 194˚F (90˚C) – den kan koka ett ägg på några minuter, en bedrift som lokalbefolkningen är mer än demonstrerar gärna. Förutom att laga din frukost kan du doppa tårna i flera pooler.
Wat Rong Khun, kanske mer känd för utlänningar som det vita templet, är en privatägd konstutställning i stil med ett buddhistiskt tempel i Chiang Rai-provinsen, Thailand. Det ägs av Chalermchai Kositpipat, som designade, konstruerade och öppnade det för besökare 1997.
Baan Dam Museum, även känt för utlänningar som Black House Museum, är en blandning av traditionella nordthailändska byggnader med okonventionell och modern arkitektur, skapad av Thawan Duchanee.
Monumentalt, modernt buddhistiskt tempel som kännetecknas av sin livfulla blå färg och utarbetade sniderier.
Besök Karen Long-neck-stammen. En stamby vars kvinnor bär staplade mässingsringar på halsen och säljer handgjorda hantverk.
Den gyllene triangeln ligger längst i norr i provinsen och är en av Chiang Rais mest kända attraktioner. Den gyllene triangeln, som tidigare var ökänd på grund av opiumhandeln, är det område där tre länders gränser möts: Thailand, Laos och Myanmar (Burma). The speedboat ride added excitement and the snorkeling spots had plenty to look at. I went with friends and everyone enjoyed the day. The sea was a little choppy on the way back, but the crew handled it well.
One long but AMAZING day! Started off w a 7am pick up at the local Burger King attached to the “M Hotel” The 11 passenger AC van was comfy. Our driver and guide sat up front while the group of nine sat in back. I’m a 6ft 300lbs guy who sat very comfortably in the center seat… yeah no Tuk-Tuks for me HAHA! The stops are spread out pretty good so you are not spending too much time in the van. You are given about 45m at each location… it’s adequate for most but don’t waste it because it goes by QUICK. Hoping back in a AC van is pretty sweet too! All three temples, long neck village, hot springs and Golden Triangle Boat trip were great! Would have loved more time at White Temple though… feel like we had more time to eat then explore that area. Guide was very nice and spoke great English. Double check your tour package though. I was a last minute add as solo member and package did not match up. Was ask to pay extra $ for a couple entries which I did. Then I emailed my booking company which corrected the details over the phone and I was refunded the cash. Guide apologized profusely but I kept telling her it was no fault of hers and how was she supposed to know right. Thais are soo polite and sweet, it’s regretful she had to feel soo bad. Boat cruise was nice. I will say sit towards the back though… River guide talks the entire 50min ride… you don’t want be a near a speaker 😆! All in all just an amazing day! Ride back was long but the breakout up w bathroom stop. 100% recommend this trip… for $50 unbeatable ❤️ (my only criticism would be to have tour guides give the information right before a stop and then set folks free as to maximize the limited sightseeing time)

Difficult to access Setenil on different roads. We found up to 2 road cuts, the last of them when there were only 5 km ppr to travel. We had to take a tremendous turn. We were from Jerez. A tour that lasts 11⁄2 hours, became a 3 hour drive. How hard is it to advertise on the road the convenient accesses to get there?? And the worst part was that when we arrived, it was impossible to park. The rest of the tourists left the car in no-go areas or on pavements. It is not adapted to the flood of visitors it receives. To top it all off, the parking indications around town are wrong. The municipality ends and the indicated parking is not listed. You have to make a U-turn on an unsafe road and retrace it again without being able to park. We had to go to Olvera 14 km from there or desperate without visiting options. We came back in the afternoon again, because it is far away and we did not want to give up. We had to leave the car in a no-go zone at the risk of getting sanctioned. One resident was rightly upset that they too have parking problems with their vehicles and we understood that perfectly well. Once we've seen it, I don't think we'll be back. Excessive drawbacks in this visit.

At first, I thought it was temple-centric tourism in Chiang Rai, but it was quite a fulfilling tour, visiting chieftain villages and going around the Golden Triangle. It had been turned into a tourist destination for the chiefs. In Chiang Rai, I was happy enough to see the blue and white temples. The Golden Triangle boat tour was exciting, seeing churches in three countries.

I already wrote a very lengthy review on Viator.com. It was a very very long day. Not sure why we stopped at the hot springs. We loved the White Temple and the Blue Temple. We found the Long Neck Village, the Black Museum and the Golden Triangle very interesting. Lunch was satisfactory. Our guide, Emmy, was friendly but needs a lot of training to be an excellent guide. Her function was more as a time keeper making sure we all returned on time. She gave us very very little information about the places we were visiting.
The places we went were great, but the bus was late picking us up. We did not get to spend much time in any one place which made it hard to enjoy our time. Example, we thought we were getting a full hour at the White Temple but was really less than 45 minutes because the lunch that was provided was a part of that time. Also, the tour guide spent so much time talking before letting us explore that it also cut into our time at each place.

Was it a long, long day? YES, definitely, more than 14 hours! Was it worth it? YES, definitely, because we got to see Chiang Rai, the White Temple, which was spectacular, the Blue Temple, which was beautiful, the Black Museum, which was interesting, and the Golden Triangle with the boat ride, which was very informative. The lunch, which was included, was satisfactory. Now, the guide, Emmie. E.mmie was amiable but, in my opinion, she made sure we were on time, but wasn't a true guide, who would explain fully each sight, and give us historical information. During the many hours of driving she had the opportunity to talk to us, but she slept. The driver was knowledgeable and efficient. So, in summary, long, long day, great sights to see, acceptable lunch and driver, and a guide who needs training as to what a guide should be.
