Din Belfast Murals Tour börjar i Shankill Road-området i Belfast som är (protestantisk/brittisk), där din Black Taxi Cab-chaufför kommer att förklara en detaljerad historia av området. Vi börjar 1690, när Vilhelm av Oranien anlände till Irland för att besegra kung Jakob den 2:e i det berömda slaget vid Boyne. Det kommer då att finnas en förklaring till de senaste oroligheterna, som började 1969 och slutade när fredsavtalet undertecknades 1998. Fredsmurarna utformades för att skilja den katolska (nationalistiska) och protestantiska (unionistiska) befolkningen i Belfast. De första ”fredslinjerna” uppfördes efter våldsutbrottet 1969 i Nordirland. De byggdes som tillfälliga strukturer, tänkta att vara bara sex månader. På grund av sin effektiva natur byggdes de högre, längre och permanentades och finns kvar än idag. Fredsmurarna pryds av konst och hoppfulla budskap från turister.
Du kommer att besöka Clonard Martyrs Memorial garden i Bombay Street i svart taxi tur. Bombay Street i Belfast är där vissa säger att de moderna problemen började när katoliker brändes ut ur sina hem. Det är också där den provisoriska IRA bildades. Varje avsnitt av denna trädgård kommer att förklaras i detalj och orsakerna till att den finns. Nästa stopp på turnén blir Sinn Feins presstjänst, där en av de mest ikoniska Falls Road-muralmålningarna av Bobby Sands väggmålning finns. Du får höra om Bobby Sands historia och den irländska hungerstrejken i Maze Prison 1981.
Sista stoppet blir den internationella muren, där du kommer att se en mängd olika väggmålningar i Belfast. Väggmålningarna har ett allmänt tema som ”lyfter fram förtryck” – från rasupploppen i Amerika 1969 till aktuella händelser i Palestina.

We did the Black Cab Tour with Danny L today, and he was absolutely amazing! He was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, and had a fantastic sense of humour, which made the tour even more enjoyable. Danny L never rushed us and took the time to explain everything in depth, giving us a real insight into the history and stories behind the places we visited. He was happy to answer all of our questions and made the whole experience both interesting and memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting. I would especially recommend Danny L— he was fantastic! Thank you, Danny L, for making this such a memorable experience for us. We really appreciated it!

An excellent experience from start to finish. Our guide Eugene was extremely well informed, friendly, and genuinely objective, which matters on a tour that covers both sides of Belfast's history. He didn't just recite facts at the murals and the peace wall. He welcomed questions, and the discussions kept going deeper the more we asked. The tour left us with a lot to think about, and we've been reading up on the area ever since, which says everything about how well it was done. Highly recommended.

Our driver was Martin and our tour was fantastic. Great information was given, questions were answered and we learned a lot. I would highly recommend to anyone. You can read about Belfast and The Troubles but seeing it is so much more striking - the segregated communities, the wall, the gates that are closed and locked every night, etc. Very moving. We visited from Canada.
Excellent tour, we were collected from our hotel for £5 extra, so worth it. Danny our guide was brilliant from the moment we hopped in the cab. We thought we understood the troubles but the information Danny gave us at all our stops blew our mind at times and was so informative for someone from the outside looking in. We didn't feel rushed at any stage and I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone, so worth the money 👍5*
This is a must do experience if you visit Belfast, our tour guide Tucker was probably the best part of the tour. Having lived through the troubles he had first hand knowledge and passed it on without bias or anger towards anyone very enlightening 90 min
Our guide was local, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. He explained both sides clearly and gave us an overview before we left so we had a brief idea then built on it. Highly recommended. It's not like the TV and movies.
