We have done few kayak tours before and this was underwhelming compared to those. Group was too big even though I especially chose this company for small group on recommendation. Very basic experience, yes caves were nice but the amounts of people and boats made it feel very commercial and not my kind of thing. We stayed in lovely area with similar stone formations on smaller scale so I wouldn’t go in future or recommend to go to this area at all. Saying that, few guides were lovely, other less so probably tired of constant contact with turist. Also, charging for lockers on the top is silly and no water available other than to buy. I wanted to get phone cover and it was 10eur for piece of plastic, so unreasonable. Kayaks were ok, not most comfortable. As I said we had done longer day tours in past and kayaks were much better
Alex was great as a guide and the scenery is magnificent! Just be careful because in the communications before arriving, we are told that there are lockers on site, but they are small and cost money! (€5/locker)
Great activity to see the caves and some of the coast line. The guides were great and Secret Algarve made everything very easy with great communication before and during the trip.
We chose to visit the Benagil caves at sunrise and we were right! Few people and beautiful light! We were not cold at all. Calm sea. Magical trip! We highly recommend it. Thanks to our guide (Alexis)!
We had a fabulous trip to Bengali caves with Samuel and Tharik yesterday. Their knowledge, friendliness and flexibility was outstanding! We had a teenager in a wheelchair which was absolutely no issue at all and we received a fantastic welcome! Our trip was a perfect mix of activity, exploring and fun. If you want a cool, friendly experience this is the one for you.
Based on recommendation and reviews I booked the trip for sunrise kayaking at 7AM. This was for my family of 4 which included a 6 year old. We were advised to arrive early by at least 20 minutes. I reached destination at 6:20 AM. The office is not open. In fact the office was opened at 7:20 AM by a staff member. I was then told than with kids this young I should not be booking a sunrise trip. And no body else showed up that day for sunrise trip besides us because the weather was very cold and it seemed to us that they already had cancelled the sunrise trip that day. It was that they never informed us. Horrible experience and I would request people to stay away from this.
Dear Chinmay, Your review contains multiple statements that are factually incorrect. To begin with, I arrived at the office at 6:30 AM, which coincides with the time the door was opened. As clearly stated in our instructions, clients are advised to arrive 15–20 minutes before departure, meaning 6:40–6:45 AM for this tour. Your decision to arrive at 6:20 AM was entirely your own and is not something for which we can be held responsible. Furthermore, your claim that the sunrise tour was cancelled is completely false! The tour proceeded as scheduled. The only reason you and your family did not participate was because, after I advised that the weather was too cold for your young children, you discussed it with your wife and decided to reschedule the activity to a more suitable day and time. That decision was yours. While I did recommend postponing the tour for the well-being of your children, at no point were you treated disrespectfully or unfairly. Suggesting otherwise is simply untrue. To be absolutely clear: your tour was never cancelled! It was voluntarily rescheduled at your request after your family decided not to participate under the weather conditions that morning. Publishing a review that contains false statements and misrepresents what actually occurred is unacceptable. We take false and defamatory allegations seriously, particularly when they attempt to damage our reputation over circumstances that resulted from your own decisions.
I've done tours before, but nothing, absolutely nothingm compares to this kayak tour through Benagil with Rafa as our guide. My husband and I are still talking about it! We booked the early morning slot (6:30 AM, just the two of us and =) Rafa), and yes, I'll admit: rolling out of bed before sunrise felt like a stretch. Don't let that stop you, it was worth every single second of lost sleep. Rafa is, simply put, one of the most remarkable people I've ever met on a trip. His energy is magnetic, genuinely warm, positive, and infectious in the best way. He's calm, endlessly patient, and the kind of person you feel at ease with from the very first minute. Conversation flows naturally with him, and before we knew it, the tour was over. It felt like five minutes. That's not a complaint, it's the highest compliment I can give. He explained everything with a rare combination of simplicity and depth: easy to follow, but rich in detail. He clearly loves what he does and where he does it, and that passion is contagious. He is incredibly knowledgeable and yet never makes you feel like you're sitting in a lecturem it just feels like exploring with a brilliant friend who happens to know everything. And then there's the landscape itself. Benagil Cave, Praia do Pirata, Tartaruga, I am not exaggerating when I say I have never seen anything so beautiful in nature. The sandstone cliffs and sea caves/algarves are absolutely breathtaking, unlike anything I've ever witnessed. But here's the thing: the setting alone could have been enough, and Rafa still made it better. He elevated an already stunning experience into something truly unforgettable. My husband and I genuinely felt we underpaid for the value Rafa delivered. That says everything! If I could do every single tour I ever take in my life with Rafa as the guide, I would. Book the early slot, trust Rafa. You will not regret it :) PS: Rafa, if you ever read this: greetings from cold Canada!
It was the coolest experience! Great price point, and perfect length, about 2 hour trip total including walking from the lockers to the shore and back. Our guide Julian was awesome. Couldn't reccommend it more.
Absolutely recommended, as it was a small group and we were the first in the cave. It was the 7 AM tour. Guide Raphael explained everything perfectly, and it was a relaxing trip. Later, we would not recommend the tour due to mass tourism.
Beautiful experience. Visiting the Benagil caves at dawn was fantastic; it gives you the opportunity to take the tour when most tourists have not yet arrived, allowing you to see everything calmly and without the traffic of canoes during peak times. Gabriel and his collaborator are excellent!
