Band of Brothers in Holland privat turné från Amsterdam

Följ i fotspåren av Dick Winters och hans Band of Brothers under operationen Market-Garden och på ön. Du kommer att besöka alla platser relaterade till Band of Brothers saga i Holland. Det är en hektisk turné så "Hang Tough". Och vi har lunchrast på ett intressant museum. 10-11 timmars resetid är inkluderad. Slagfältsrundturens karaktär av denna resa innebär många kortare och längre körningar till och mellan platser.

Efter 1,5 timmars bilresa från Amsterdam anländer vi till Dropzone C. Detta var landningsområdet för Easy Company. De gillade den mjuka landningen på fälten och vi kan se varför. Paulushoef-gården användes som samlingspunkt och lokalbefolkningen var upptagna med att hjälpa skadade och törstiga luftburna. Gården är inte öppen för besökare.
Från dropzonen följer vi Easy companys frammarsch till bron vid Son. Den sprängdes av tyskarna. En gångbro improviserades och framryckningen till Eindhoven fortsatte. Senare försökte tyskarna att återta bron med en panzerattack som besegrades efter en hård kamp.
I Eindhoven ser vi gatan där folket firade medan Easy-kompaniet gick fram för att erövra Dommel-bron och väntade på stridsvagnarna från Guards Armored Division. Senare bombades staden av tyskarna.
Vi kör till Nuenen. Här hade Easy Company en hård kamp med 107 Panzer Brigade som attackerade från öst. Nuenen är också känt som Vincent Van Gogh Village.
Vi stannar för lunch och ett besök på Wings of Liberation museum. Museet är tillägnat Market-Garden-verksamheten. Du kan se förklarande kartor och uniformer, utrustning och fordon som används i atmosfäriska uppvisningar. Det ligger i ett skogsområde på en lagringsplats under kalla kriget. Museet är stängt på måndagar.
Tyskarna gjorde desperata försök att skära av "Hells Highway" XXX-kårens framrycknings- och försörjningsväg. Bruket i Eerde och vägen vid Koevering var mycket omtvistade platser.
På denna gård på ön gjordes den berömda Dick Winters-bilden vid den främre porten. Vi gör ett stopp här så att du kan göra detsamma. Vid vägen finns ett monument för Easy Company som täcker öns utbyggnad. Gården är inte öppen för besökare.
Vårt sista stopp är vid Crossroads där en avdelning från Easy Company stötte på 2 tyska SS-företag och dirigerade dem. Du kommer att se hur öppen terrängen är med det enda täcket som kommer från vallar och dräneringsdiken. Ett litet monument firar händelsen. Härifrån är det ca 1,5 timme tillbaka till Amsterdam.

This experience meant far more to us than we expected. Standing in the very places where the soldiers of Operation Market Garden fought and fell gave us a sense of connection that was deeply personal for my family of 4. This experience wasn’t just about learning history—it was experiencing the places of history that books and movies cannot express. Hearing the stories while walking the same ground made the war feel closer, more human, and profoundly real. We found ourselves imagining their decisions, their sacrifices, and the impossible moments they faced. It gave us a new level of respect for the men who fought though out the Netherlands and left a lasting impression that we will take with us for the rest of our lives. Jip did an outstanding job of bringing all of these stories to life. He presented pictures, accounts, and his own unique blend of experience that accentuated this trip. This is by far one of the best experiences myself and my family have had in our travels, and we are greatly appreciative of Jip for helping us create family memories that will last a lifetime. We all 50, 40ish, 20 and 12 year olds, recommend this adventure. (5 stars is not enough)

Jip was outstanding in his knowledge of Easy Co 506th, Band of Brothers and Operation Market Garden. He took us to all the key sites, from the Easy Co. drop zone through The Crossroads, which included a visit to a very cool museum. Was a bucket list tour for me and it exceeded my expectations! Had a running conversation with Jip all day about Easy Co and Operation Market Garden, regarding tactics, personnel, and US Army/British Senior Leaders. Would highly recommend this tour if you are a Band of Brothers or Operation Market Garden Fan!

Jip took us on an incredible day trip from Amsterdam to Bastogne and Foy! My husband is a passionate about World War II, particularly the journey Easy Company had through Europe. When he saw that we could do this tour, it was a must! Jip was incredibly knowledgeable, helping me learn along the way as I’m not as well-versed in WWII tanks and weapons as my husband. 😉 We both appreciated the depth of Jip’s knowledge, his thoroughly planned itinerary, and his generosity with his time. We were able to visit the Bastogne War Museum, several monuments around Bastogne, the Bois Jacques to see the foxholes and memorial, Foy, and more! It was so powerful to visit these places knowing (and learning more!) about what Easy Company faced right there.
