The pictures are deceiving, as they show a BUNCH of monkeys on people and it is why we chose this tour. As soon as the tour began, our tour guide made an announcement saying we absolutely do not feed monkeys, because we don’t want to disrupt their natural habitat, so if they do decide to come into our boat that’s one thing, but we don’t attract them to us in any way. I was taken aback, as the monkeys were what I promised my 11 year old on his birthday, solely on the pictures I saw on viator. I told her my concerns, she said no way. So then I texted the person who I was chatting with through WhatsApp in charge of this posting and he said there is nowhere in the posting saying it’s a monkey experience. I told him that their pictures are deceiving and it’s a misrepresentation of what they offer. The conversation started to get heated and as soon as that started, we saw a bunch of monkeys on a different boat and they were feeding them, everyone there who wanted, would feed a monkey so they would come to them. In the end a couple of monkeys came into our boat and it happens to be that my birthday boy was the only one that the monkey went on and someone from another group took a video of it and sent it to me, so even though I was super disappointed, it ended up being just ok. My other son was disappointed that the monkeys didn’t come in him and frankly, my husband and I would have loved go experience it as well. If you’re looking for a monkey experience, look somewhere else. We saw a snake, some termites’ nests, some crabs, a falcon, and that’s about it. It obviously is up to nature what shows up at any given time. I just want to emphasize AGAIN that this is NOT a monkey experience and there’s a bunch of other tours who do feed them and get them on people and get a bunch of super cool pictures. This is NOT that. The tour guide was very nice and took photos of us whenever we wanted and sent those pictures to me right away.
I'm sorry for your bad experience. Unfortunately, our company does not feed wild animals, which is prohibited in Costa Rica. In any national park or biological reserve, you'll find signs that say "Do not feed the animals because it makes them sick." We are 100% committed to the environment and do not disturb their habitat. If you saw other companies feeding monkeys, that is completely illegal. As I mentioned before, they face fines and the closure of their businesses by the Costa Rican government. We do not practice that. We offer tours for observing animals in their natural habitat. If you see some people with photos of monkeys in this product, it's because the monkeys decided to jump off the boat on their own, because that was their decision, not because we fed them. That is the true meaning of our phrase "pura vida"... you, being Costa Rican, should know that better than anyone. If you check the rest of our reviews on this blog, you'll see that people comment positively about this activity because they appreciate that we don't feed the animals... If everyone's experience were like yours, we wouldn't have such good reviews... Best regards
A great fun tour with a nice guide who enthusiastically told us a lot about the flora and fauna. From water buffalo, cinnamon tree, sloth, mangrove to very naughty monkeys everything passed by! The best tour we've had here on costa rica.
Alonso told us and showed us many interesting things about the flora and fauna in the mangroves on a farm and boat tour. Many animals have shown up. We can highly recommend this tour.
Amazing experience! Saw so much wildlife. Would definitely book again!
Great trip with knowledgeable guides. They were super nice and tailored the trip to our needs. Highly recommend
Super nice guide and capitan, lovely views and boat experience
Great experience for my daughters. Our guides were great, especially the guy steering. He was able to get us close to the monkeys and they even jumped in the vessel. Kids had a blast. Would highly recommend it!
Had a great time in the mangroves. Crazy Alex made the tour very memorable, and pointed out a ton of wildlife. The monkeys were my favorite :) I highly recommend this tour.
Great tour with Felipe - very knowledgeable about the wildlife! We saw multiple species from lizards to monkeys!
Let’s start with the positive side of things; our guide had wonderful energy, he was knowledgeable and very active. He was kind to everyone and especially attentive to the kids,,which engaged them and intrigued them to the environment and the wild life species around. This for itself was great and we’re very grateful for and to him. Aside for this, we we’re very disappointed to find ourselves on a large boat of (maybe) 20-30 people while we were explicitly promised that we’ll have our dedicated guide and our own family boat. Not only that it was a surprise to us, but we felt deceived at the same time. Fully misled but a personal WhatsApp note which we received shortly after we had bought the tour’s tickets. What started as a courteous promise has never been fulfilled.
Hello dear friend, it's a pleasure to greet you! 3 stars for a beautiful experience like the one you and your children had. I think it's not enough, but the customer is always right and that should be respected above all! Nowhere in this product description does it say that this tour is private. You can't offer a private tour in high season... I would understand your review if my product title said "private tour in Langlar," but IT ISN'T... the tour is in a group, and the boats are for 23 people. There were 17 people on your boat, never 30 as you say... I was there the whole time and saw that everyone was kind and friendly to you and your children... The service was great, the experience was great, the animals were beautiful... I can't understand what happened... but I'm sorry for your bad experience.
