Wonderful from start to finish. The food was ample and delicious. The host was gracious. A lovely experience.

The food was amazing - the setting was magnificent. The stories were inspiring and humbling. It was unforgettable.

Wow wow wow!!! I am still dreaming about our time with Jane! She is Canadian but has lived full time in Mexico for many many years (maybe 20?). So she is considered a real local to the Hualtuco community. Her background and education in women’s history and Mexican culture shines through in the experience she creates for her guests. Over 8-9 courses we had multiple indigenous foods from the area and specialties we would have never experienced otherwise. Jane is extremely passionate about the earth and how our food is sourced. This is a dining experience like NO other. Jane is the most welcoming, friendly, warm host and she invites you on a journey to connect with her local village and the community through food. DO NOT MISS this opportunity when in Huatulco!

I had this experience back in December 2024 and it was exceptional. It is off the beaten path, but that’s a part of the fun. The good was amazing and there is also a small gift shop where you can buy cooking utensils, salt seasonings, etc. The host is very in tune with the local village and the surrounding ecosystem; her knowledge of your food and how everything is sourced makes for an even better experience. The food was delicious! I cannot recommend this enough.

I can’t speak highly enough of this experience. The host/owner, Jane, is extremely knowledgeable of Oaxaca, Huatulco, the local community, and the people and history that make up the culture of this beautiful region. I could go through and list the many delicious dishes we had and the story behind each, but it wouldn’t be helpful. For one, this is truly a “village to table” meal and what is in season or available from the local community may not be the same as what we had last night. In addition, Jane pours an amount of knowledge into each dish through a historical and cultural lens and I wouldn’t want to attempt that for fear of misstating. What I can say is that this is the best dinner experience I’ve had in my travels, beating out the steak Florentine experience I had in Florence, Italy. This is well worth the money and I can promise you’ll leave with a full belly and mesmerized by the experience. ¡Buen apetito!

Jane is a great an knowledgable host! We had the 8 course tasting menu and it was amazing. I would highly recommend this dining experience.

I love Mexico. I love the bold and complex flavors of Mexican food, and that there's so much more to the cuisine than tacos and burritos. I also love to cook, and I love to eat.  As a regular Huatulco visitor since 2017, it’s been a fun treat discovering Chilis&Chocolate to expand my knowledge and appreciation for the Mexican kitchen. The 8-Course dinner is a must-do if you describe yourself as a foodie (like…a real foodie, not someone who just likes to eat in restaurants for food pics; you know who you are ;)). I loved how TRULY local ingredients were incorporated into the dishes (I’m not going to tell you which ones, you need to book an evening and find out for yourself!), and the Mexican wine pairings were the cherry on top. Much like Jane’s cooking classes, the 8-Course Dinner was also a great combination of food history, instruction, and fun. The setting in Zimatán on the river bank is incredibly idyllic, and the village itself is charming beyond belief.  I highly recommend a class or a meal; I know I’m looking forward to return visits!

With the sound of the River in the background, the whole meal was a memorable event! Jane provided excellent information about the ingredients throughout the meal. The dishes served were both excellent and diverse. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
