We had a fantastic time at this coffee and cocoa tasting session. The history portion was engaging and informative — I really appreciated learning about the origins and processes behind both coffee and cocoa production. The hands-on experience made it even better, as we got to participate directly rather than just observe. The tastings themselves were the highlight. My three boys (ages 10–14) absolutely loved the hot cocoa — rich, delicious, and they couldn’t get enough! As for me, I thought the coffee was amazing — smooth, flavorful, and some of the best I’ve had. It was a perfect family-friendly activity that kept everyone interested and happy. If you’re in the area (especially with kids), this is a must-do. Educational, fun, and delicious — we’d definitely go back! Highly recommend.
It was an extremely well presented and a wonderful experience! Learned so much about cacao and coffee!
This was a wonderful tour of how they make coffee and cacao from a very experienced owner operator who grew up on a cacao farm and makes excellent coffee. We learned how to grind a bean. How to roast the beans. How to grind the cacao shells had hot chocolate head coffee. Very personable. Very wonderful. Highly recommend this tour and then a little walk through town for the souvenir shops. Great experience!
What a wonderful experience! It was a low key, relaxed setting, and we learned much about the area, history and the right way to process coffee & cacao! The guides were fun and informational and the breakfast was great.
This tour is simply amazing! For the price, this experience can’t be matched. Listed as a two hour tour, the host was kind enough to extend the duration due to our deep interest in the process of making chocolate and coffee: The tour is situated in the shop, where we got to have a hand on experience, lecture, and question/answer session wrapped together into a very informative mid-day activity. In addition to learning about the specifics of cacao and chocolate, we were able to sample cacao at the various stages of production, in addition to grinding our own cacao and coffee beans. Lunch was provided, consisting of Casado, a traditional Costa Rican dish, paired with a delicious fruit drink. For the price, this experience and included lunch was great! Thank you to Rosbin and his assistant, and the staff at the cafe for a great afternoon!
Three generations loved! Jose enthralled four adults (aged 44 - 71) and one 6-year old child for two hours. His "tour" of coffee and chocolate history in Costa Rica included many sensory experiences that enchanted all. The lunch was exactly what we'd hoped: prepared as done locally and served with impeccable hospitality. Thanks also to Jose for recommending H1 Honey coffee beans; prepared by "pour over", it rivals Jamaican Blue Mountain and Hawaiian Kona.
This was a fantastic tour and would highly recommend to anyone interested in chocolate or coffee. Rosbin, the owner and guide, is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the topic (and funny). He explains things in a very hands on way, step by step. The lunch afterward is also excellent.
Would recommend this tour. We did it with our 9 year old daughter . I was worried she may get bored but she wasnt at all. All three of us had a great time and learned alot.
Extremely informative and intimate experience! Left the experience much more knowledgeable about coffee, chocolate, and the country of Costa Rica than I had anticipated. Considering the delicious breakfast included, the value of this experience is insane! Definitely book if you're a coffee/chocolate lover!
Great hands-on experience learning about coffee & chocolate. Lunch provided at the coffee shop was a nice addition and made the entire experience a good value! I wish we would have tried more varieties of coffee and chocolate to be able to compare the tastes.
We were very happy to hear that about our family experience.
