Jojo was engaging, informative and the pace was perfect. The chocolate samples were varied with great explanations about each kind.
We absolutely loved it. You are amongst a beautiful rainforest, will all the energy the plants and flowers bring. Our guide was fantastic and entertaining. Would definitely go again.
Naki, our guide with his knowledge, his humor and his ukulele made the hike one of the best excursions we have had to date. I highly recommend it. Well worth the money. Do bring bug spray!!
This tour was amazing! I went with me and my 4 children and we loved it! Felt like we was deep in nature, learned about some very cool plants even one that closed by itself when you touched it and it was shy, ate chocolate made from right there in nature, and learned some cool history about Hawaii! Not to mention the waterfall, I am happy we did this! Thank you!!

🌺We are so happy that you had a incredible time, it’s great folks like you who help us do great selfless work here at this ancient jungle waterfall nature preserve & be of critical help during a crisis in our community with having helped feed over 2,000, during the Lahaina wildfires & housing as many survivors as we could providing PTS therapy and giving them a nurturing environment to heal in, in this lush tropical magical environment. T took us into the jungle and shared his wisdom and love of botany with us. From his lived experiences with growing, cooking, and eating the surrounding plants to his insightful understandings of the many properties each plant has and serves, we were amazed by his encyclopedic knowledge and true appreciation for his surroundings and the culture’s history. We left happier, wiser, and truly appreciating chocolate.

Interesting tour with a focus on the ancient Polynesians and their important canoe plants. I learned a lot and enjoyed myself. The tasting afterward was interesting. It was a good way to spend some time away from the beach. Wear the bug spray. We did and long pants and sleeves. We got no bites. Folks in shorts with "natural" spray got eaten up.
We appreciate your great review, to One of Hawaiis greatest Royal Ancient sites, the actual location of the last great King of Hawaii's Jungle Gardens. We are delighted that you found it a captivating location as that is always great to hear. We do provide bug spray to those who forget to bring their favorite, and tell folks that they can also get some of the stronger spray with simply asking the guide as he has it with him during the entire tour. Our tour guide Ryan was wonderful! We arrived about 10 minutes late and he waited for us and showed us incredible things in the gardens- which are jaw droppingly beautiful! He was very knowledgeable and made it fun for us and our kids. That said- I had issues with the tour operator. First know that this is not a private tour like the listing suggests. The gardens are private but it’s a group tour and they may not wait for you if you are late by any amount of time. Second when I raised the issue of the tour not being private as advertised, the tour operator was rude and actually reported to Viator that we no showed which was totally untrue. Ryan was an amazing guide but our experience with the tour operator was definitely a turn off.
🌺 Kindly note 100% of visitor’s note that is not an exclusive private tour. But a private location, we are so Sorry your upset but You arrived 45 minutes late from the allocated check in time that states “please don’t be late as they don’t wait” the guide told the office that the other party on the tour getting upset waiting so long, he told us he had started the tour as at that point you were already 30 mins late, hence you were a no show. Apparently you drove in when they had already started and got on the tour. This was unknown to us until much later. Our office person had already reported it to viator. We hope that helps to clarify as I know our office person was as polite as possible as we all over heard the conversation hence have witnesses, however there is always room for improvement and she should had let Viator know that you did show up but as you were 45 mins late and we did not find out till much later it was report according to protocol. We are sorry for any miscommunications as we strive to always do better. Being a great local charity we help feed those in need with over 2,085.00 people during the entire pandemic and during the Lahaina Wildfires. We ended up with a lovely private tour. Our guide JoJo was very knowledgeable about the history of the area, as well as the plants we saw on the tour. The chocolate tasting was wonderful!
