Montepulciano Food & Farm Tours
Beyond the wine, the Valdichiana Senese produces pecorino from Pienza, saffron, olive oil pressed in November and Cinta Senese — the belted heritage pig you will see on every salumi board in town. Farm tours visit the producers themselves; gourmet walks work the delis and enoteche along the Corso.

Food & Farm Tours i Montepulciano — Vanliga frågor
What is Cinta Senese?
An ancient Tuscan pig breed, black with a white belt across the shoulders, that nearly died out and is now DOP-protected. Raised semi-wild in oak woods, it makes the region’s best prosciutto and salami — farm visits with a tasting cost €45–€58.
What food is Montepulciano known for?
Pici pasta, Cinta Senese salumi, pecorino from Pienza thirteen kilometres away, olive oil from the surrounding hills, and — above all — Vino Nobile. Gourmet tours of the old town cost about €135.
When is the olive harvest in Tuscany?
Late October into November, when the new oil is pressed and sold unfiltered and peppery. Several farms run tastings during those weeks; it is also the quietest time of year in town.
