We spent an outstanding three days in Normandy with Karine Poullard. I’m the other half of the previous review posted by Allen. Karine is highly professional and exceptionally knowledgeable—not just about Normandy, but about the broader context of both English and French history. She brings the past to life in a way that’s engaging and memorable. Just as importantly, she is kind, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about what she does. If you’re visiting Normandy and want to truly understand the historical significance of the region, hiring a guide is essential—and I can’t recommend Karine highly enough.
Thank you so much ! You are right, I am passionate about my job, and it makes me even better when I am guiding people as interested as you and asking questions. You will always be welcome in Normandy, Karine
We had a party of 4 and Karine Poullard was our guide for two days of D-Day sights and a day to the Abbey at Mont St. Michel. She has excellent knowledge of the history of each location and everywhere in between. She prepared us for the history before, during and after each D-Day site. The trip to Mont St. Michel was full of details about why and how the Abbey was built in this location. One member of our group needed access accommodations and she made it very easy for our group. Additionally, Karine made sure every detail was ready for us on every day from waters, to meals in great local restaurants where we were welcome and also to bathroom stops every day. She was very professional and her vehicle was clean and comfortable for our group. I would give Karine the highest recommendation to all who want an amazing tours with a personal touch!
Thanks a lot ! I am happy if you are happy. Guiding in Normandy is very meaningful, even after 35 years of experience, and it's even more meaningfulwith people like you. Warm regards, Karine
Very, very well karine is a lover of her region and her profession, a passionate who transmits all her knowledge with a lot of determination, passion and love. Both present and discreet, it envelops you with his stories, anecdotes, and the whole story of the landing. A very nice day of discovery, emotion and sharing. thank you karine for your professionalism, and your kindness. We will keep a lasting memory of our day. Sincerely recommend karine.. Merci beaucoup ! Ce fut un moment de partage très agréable. Et vive la Provence et les Provençaux !
We booked a full-day a tour this August, and Normandy had been on our family bucket-list for decades...what a huge waste of time, energy and money. From the awful reception, from a downright rude, arrogant, and dispassionate individual, who made us so uncomfortable that my wife STOPPED the tour at The American Cemetery (our first stop)! We took a taxi from there to Utah Beach, where we had lunch at Roosevelt Restaurant and then visited the Visitor Centre there (2hrs). That was all we had time for, and the museum staff booked our taxi back to Bayeux (we waited 1hr for it too... and so ended up going back across to the café). Her name, 'Poularde' she said 'was connected to somebody at the Mont Saint Michel' but tbh who cares? What we wanted to know was HOW on earth did she even GET a guide card in the first place ? Shocking... I'd avoid this guide at all costs. *We decided NOT to leave a tour 'review' that week on holiday. It's taken us both months to forget it!
I don't know who you are but for sure someone who wants to hurt me. Too bad for you, in August I did very few tours and only 2 with individuals, including one with French people and the other one in the vehicle of the customers (so they had not needed a taxi) and everybody was very happy of the tour. I have their contacts to prove ! Stop
Karine Poullard is a wonderful guide! I feel lucky to have found her! I had arranged a full-day private bus tour for my family (we were twenty one), and we could not have asked for a better or more expert guide. Being from the area, she was able to share fascinating personal stories about her experience growing up there. Moreoever, she is extremely knowledgeable both about the specific details of the WWII battles and sites in the area, and also about what was happening to the civilian population during that whole period. She has multiple exciting and engaging stories about it all! Because of her planning, organization, and expertise, we were able to see all the important sites even though we had just one day. She is also quite charming and a pleasure to be with. Her English is perfect with only a very slight accent so she was easy to understand. (She has a really funny story about when a returning British veteran stayed with her family during a reunion, and she was the translator for her parents!). I am happy to give her the highest possible recommendation!
It was a great pleasure to share these stories with your family and with you. Thank you for your kindness ! All the Best from Normandy, Karine
We booked just 3 days ahead, last-minute. And agreed on cash on the day payment. We took the 06.00am train on Friday from Paris for our 09.00am pick up in Bayeux and she didn't EVEN SHOW. We waited an hour, got a cab to the US Cemetery. A cab back. Lunch and the tapestry. We're so angry. She's not answering the phone either. Bloody ridiculous. A wasted day... SHAME ON YOU! (she had the cheek to call herself a certified specialist guide too). We've written a letter to the tourist office to complain. And to her Federation of certified guides... She said on the phone she used to be the president. Probably of French scouts & guides.
Dear Sir, May I ask you to check your reservation, because I don't think you ever contacted me... Even for reservations 3 days ahead, I always let customers sign a quote, and let them pay in advance by credit card, and I never ask for cash. So would you please contact me in direct to let me understand something in your story... I also never tell customers that I have been president of the Normandy Guides Federation, only the locals know. So who are you ? Karine Poullard See My Normandy
Wow! I can't say enough good things about our full day private tour with Karine. My husband and I, along with our two kids, ages 10 and 13, were able to spend a day with Karine touring the sites in Normandy and learned so much! One huge aspect I loved was how great Karine is with kids. She engaged them throughout the day, asked them questions, and told amazing stories that kept them interested. It was the best kind of field trip! Another thing I loved was that she was able to adapt our agenda throughout the day based on when places would be the least busy, so we had several places completely to ourselves (and it was D-Day anniversary weekend). She is kind, incredibly knowledgeable, and easy to talk with. She even offers different tour options for those who need a driver. I'm already looking up another opportunity to have her as a guide in other parts of beautiful France. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a tour of any kind.
Thank you Katie ! It was a great pleasure... I love my job and I love meeting people interested in discovering the world ! See you soon ;) Karine
Karine showed us around German and American military cemeteries, the beaches of Utah and Omaha, the Pointe du Hoc .... Clear and substantiated explanations with pictures/photos from the period. It was really good. Karine is a competent Guide who takes the time to detail everything. Perfect visit.... and until the end because back on Bayeux, we went through the British military cemetery! Lots of information also about the region: industries, fortified farms ..... We strongly recommend this Guide. (Thank you Karine 😀)
Karine was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. She was friendly, prompt and attentive. We throughly enjoyed our touring day.
My wife, her sister-in-law and I took a two-day tour with Karine Poullard and See My Normandy tours in mid-September. My wife and I had previously toured the D-Day beaches area in 2015 with another guide. This time we wanted to help her sister-in-law follow in the footsteps of her late father who landed on D-Day plus one and participated in Operation Cobra as a member of the US Army. Being someone who was originally and is currently from the Normandy region and whose grandparents lived in Caen during WWII, Karine brings a unique perspective that other guides may not be able to provide. She was able to relay the historical background of the sites and the actions that took place there, as well as how the armed forces engaged in the conflict were viewed by the local population. In addition to her native language, she also speaks fluent English should you be from the USA and not speak French. I would highly recommend touring with Karine should you be interested in a tour of the D-Day sites. Jeff from Wisconsin
Thank you Jeff, it has been a pleasure !
