Você terá uma visão geral dos desembarques na praia que aconteceram na Praia de Omaha em 6 de junho de 1944. Depois disso, você terá cerca de 15 minutos de tempo livre para andar na areia (dependendo das condições das marés) onde as forças americanas desembarcaram. Dia D.

Esta pequena cidade normanda estava situada na estrada principal N13 que ligava Cherbourg a Bayeux e Caen. Esta foi a principal rota que alemães e americanos precisariam para mobilizar o equipamento tão necessário durante a batalha da Normandia. Ste Mere Eglise foi um objetivo do 82º pára-quedista aerotransportado e ficou famoso pelo filme The Longest Day. O paraquedista americano John Steele teve a infelicidade de ser pego no campanário da igreja durante a queda.

Faremos uma breve parada para mostrar um dos nossos monumentos favoritos na Normandia. Richard Winters foi escolhido para representar a liderança devido à sua fama mundial na minissérie de TV Band of Brothers.
Dedicaremos algum tempo para explicar o significado desta bela e pequena aldeia. Este era um objetivo da 101ª Aerotransportada para ajudar as forças que desembarcavam na praia de Utah.

We went for a day with Eloise to visit the American beaches, St Mere Eglise, a museum etc. It was fabulous. Eloise is a wealth of knowledge and was absolutely wonderful. We highly recommend this tour operator, Bayeux Shuttle, and for this tour, Eloise for a guide/chauffeur.
Amazing tour. Our guide, Pierre, was extremely knowledgeable and wonderfully pieced together the history of D-Day and much of the impacts WWI-WWII had on France. Pickup and drop off was a breeze, and along the way and at each stop there was always a piece of history or a detail to be pointed out. The weight of history is evident in nearly all the stops. Walking the sands of Omaha and Utah beaches, walking among the bombed our craters of Point Du Hoc, observing the urban battlefield that is Sainte-Mère-Église, and among the rows upon rows of crosses at the hallowed grounds at the American Cemetery. I will not forget this experience for the rest of my days.

An informations well presented tour of the US beach operations. Jordan, our guide, presented a thorough overview of the background to as well as the landings. A visit to Angoville ended on a fascinating story or bravery and the camaraderie in battle.

Whole experience was great, from pickup to drop off. Irene, our guide was not only very knowledgeable, but spoke clearly and understandable. As a person with hearing challenges, I could understand almost every word. You see the sights, but the unexpected can happen too. During the free time at the cemetery I was relating to a fellow traveler my family’s story of one who landed at Omaha beach on d-day. An elderly French woman who was nearby heard the story and engaged me with two main points, one, why did he do this for us? Second, thank your family for what they did for us. This was the highlight for me. So, you never know. You won’t regret this trip.

Normandy is a must see. Incredibly moving. Our tour took in the American beaches and the cliffs which were scaled by the Rangers. Our guide, Matthew was personable and knowledgeable, fluent in English. Definitely a highlight of our trip to France. We don't have anything to compare this with but without a doubt it was worth going.
