O Coliseu Negro, à espera de ser explorado sob a cidade moderna!
Um dos lugares mais evocativos de Catânia. Uma antiga caverna de fluxo de lava, reutilizada na época grega como cisterna e, posteriormente, como túmulo em catacumbas pelos romanos. Segundo a tradição, este foi o local do primeiro sepultamento de Santa Ágata, sobre o qual foi posteriormente construída uma pequena igreja, já em 262. Hoje, a cripta ainda preserva vestígios de antigos afrescos e decorações esculpidas diretamente na rocha viva.
O Amenano, um misterioso rio subterrâneo que serpenteia sob o centro histórico de Catania, originalmente corria para a superfície alimentando o Lago de Nicito. Ao longo dos séculos, erupções, terremotos e guerras mudaram não só o planejamento urbano da cidade, mas também sua aparência natural. Visitaremos uma sugestiva caverna de deslizamento na qual um ramo do rio ainda flui

Matilda was wonderful and knowledgeable guide. Her love of Catania and her job really showed through on our tour! I would highly recommend this tour and especially on a Sunday as one of the sites is only open on that day.

Excellent guide who used his experience as an archeologist to really bring the tour alive. As well as very interesting information about the places we saw, he also shared with us the tastes of local history through food and drink that he bought for us at local venders. I would thoroughly recommend this tour for a real flavour of Catania

You will see underground Roman amphitheater which will is very impressive. But could do this in your own for a 4 euro entrance fee. Mathilda was very nice and knowledgeable but there are placards that explain everything. The other 2 places were caves nothing overly impressive and 1 euro entrance fees. We were treated to a typical Sicilian street food and water plus a granita type drink. Definitely not worth the cost of the tour

Underground Catania was the best way to experience and learn about the history, architecture, and culture of the city. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Catania for the first time!

It was a very knowledgeable tour guide who had a lot of passion of the subject, which we really enjoyed! Mathilde was great at answering all questions and always pointed at the most interesting aspects of the buildings/caves…etc. it is not a tour fully underground, but you’re visiting three separate underground locations. It is a great tour with a fantastic tour guide! Very highly recommend!
