What a fabulous day. A trip around the town then lunch .We changed drivers and car and went to Walmer Township. Interesting and educational. A well run tour and great value .Just my husband and I with a driver.
I had a great morning with our guide John, truth Port Elizabeth. I got picked up at my Guesthouse & afterwards we started at the port and went into the city walking and sometimes driving and saw a lot of history. We had a good lunch in a beer brewery & after that, I went with an other guide to the Walmer Township. I saw there a lot of nice creativ projects from the people there & get a look into there lifestyle. Was a cool day!
Fantastic tour made special by both of the Guides. Very informative, interesting given plenty of time to take photographs and ask questions. Superb lunch at Bridge Street Brewery with some delicious craft beers to taste. Township tour was so insightful and got to meet some inspirational people living in the community there.
The guide was energetic and knowledgeable while professional. The tour was really fun. Things that can be improved: 1. The communication around some aspects of the tour wasn't clear. It should be indicated prior to the start time what time you can expect pick up from your hotel. It just says it happens prior to the tour starting, that's rather vague and leaves you in doubt about when to be ready. A contact number for enquiries on the day would be useful. I called the number on trip advisor all morning to try and confirm my pick up time but nobody answered. The guide did arrive on time and we started on time but I'd have appreciated not being uncertain leading up to that... So a quick sms the day before confirming the details and pick up time would suffice. The tour is also rather physically demanding. Its a park and walk type tour. This should be indicated so people can dress appropriately and at least be prepared. You aren't forced to do anything beyond your capabilities so it's not like you can't enjoy or participate but I got the most out of the tour by engaging in all the stair climbing and uphill walking along Route 67. It's an awesome experience but people should be informed accordingly especially for those who may prefer minimal physical activity.
We have visited Port between 14 to 15 the August.2019.Before arriving PE we have visited Kruger National Park and Suncity. The tour was organised by SOTC.Our Hotel Raddisson Blu was very good and all the rooms were sea facing.Since it was full moon night and we saw full moon from our Hotel Room balcony. Also it was very windy and we saw Dolphins from our Hotel Room. However SOTC charged 1800ZAR per person for whale watching by boat.Which we checked from the net should not be more than 450ZAR per person.Even after paying such high rate we could not see whales and saw only the Dolphins.Next day we went to Congo caves in the Garden Route which was a Marvellous site of LS deposits inside caves and was told to 2 million years old. Also we visited the site of Bungee jump from the famous bridge (name forgotten). Overall our 2 days stay at PE was very good. From PE we went to Cape Town via Garden Route.
