Trekking Monte Rinjani 3D 2N

Mario is an incredibly caring and attentive guide who goes above and beyond to ensure we have the best possible hiking experience. He consistently checks in on us, making sure we’re feeling okay, offering snacks, and encouraging us to go at our own pace whenever fatigue sets in. His patience and reassurance made a huge difference, especially when I was nervous descending the slippery volcanic ash path from the summit—he calmly held my hand and guided me down safely. He is thoughtful and adaptable, always offering options based on our situation. When one of our group members struggled with an ankle injury, Mario suggested using hiking poles for support and even offered to carry her bag to ease the strain, ensuring the injury wouldn’t worsen. He’s also incredibly resourceful—when the sole of my shoe started coming off, he quickly improvised solutions using spare rope and materials he found along the trail to secure it so I could continue hiking safely. When the fix didn’t hold, he patiently retied it multiple times and even went as far as lending me his covered shoes, choosing to hike in flip-flops himself. Beyond his practical support, Mario made the journey truly enjoyable. He connected with us by teaching us some Bahasa and even picked up bits of Singlish like “can ah?”, which gave us plenty of laughs. His humour, encouragement, and ability to set realistic expectations for pace and timing helped us manage the demands of the 3D2N hike comfortably, with proper rest and meals along the way. We’re deeply grateful for everything he did to make this experience so memorable, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had him as our guide.
After a long online research, we decided to do the 3D2N trek with Jou Trekking - and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. Even though several groups started the hike at Jou that day, my boyfriend and I had our own guide, Alex. We arrived a bit nervous about what to expect, but from the very beginning he managed to take away our worries, while still being honest that it wouldn’t be easy. Over the three days, we were spoiled with the most delicious meals, always served with a smile by our amazing porters, Anton and Anyang. We started calling them our own 5-star chefs and hotel (and honestly, we weren’t even joking). They were our personal superheroes - what they carry and how they move up and down that mountain is just incredible. The hiking itself went so much smoother than we expected, thanks to Alex. Whenever things got tough, we had our little motto - “step by step.” It became a bit of a running joke between us not to think too far ahead, just focus on the next step. And honestly, it worked wonders. Even on the third day, we somehow still found ourselves laughing and smiling. Alex shared so much knowledge about the volcano and gave us a really personal insight into the lives of the guides and porters, which made the whole experience even more special. Beyond the hike itself, Jou Trekking took care of everything - from lending us hiking poles to organizing our hotel the night before, as well as transport to Senaru and onwards to our next destination. We also really appreciated how environmentally conscious they are, not only bringing down all our own trash, but also picking up what others left behind. Overall, we had an incredible experience and are so grateful for it. We would 100% recommend Jou Trekking, especially with Alex as a guide. This will forever be a great memory for us.
Definitely an unforgettable 3D2N experience! Especially under the care of our amazing guide Mario and his 4 porters who supported us throughout this trip! Mario really went above and beyond to take care of everyone in our group, from pacing us, helping to carry my friend’s bag and even being our Dr Shoe haha (helping one of my friend constantly fix her shoe cause her sole came out). He really made the experience so much more special and sharing with us little fun facts here and there about the place and the local culture! Food was amazing too and definitely was way enough, we w finish them sometimes too. Kudos to the porters for preparing everything from the food to our tents! Definitely recommend to find Mario if you are looking to book with jou trekking!
A beautiful trek on Lombok Island. We did the 3D/2N trek from Sambaloen to Senaru, and I think it was a really good choice. Our guide and porters did a really good job, the food was delicious and plentiful. Our guide was really good; we always knew when to speed up or slow down, for example, to avoid reaching the summit too early. Rijani is a beautiful place. We've been to several fantastic places before, but Rijani was one of the reasons we visited Indonesia, and I must admit that it lived up to our expectations. It's worth the effort to stand on top of this volcano. Jou Trekking will organize this for you in a truly satisfying way.
If you're thinking of booking the Rinjani hike, do it here! Everything was perfectly arranged from start to finish. We had private transport to Senaru the day before the hike, and after the hike they even dropped us off at a location that wasn’t officially on the list, super accommodating! During the hike, the food was absolutely amazing and more than enough. We noticed other groups getting questionable portions, but we were spoiled with generous meals and loads of fresh fruit every day. We even got Beng Beng bars for an energy boost while hiking, and once a day a cold soft drink, such a treat on the mountain! The tents were great, comfy sleeping mats and very warm sleeping bags. Every time we arrived, everything was already perfectly set up by the amazing porters. The views from the mountain were breathtaking, and we made it to the summit just in time for sunrise. Before the summit push, we were given gloves, headlamps, and hiking poles, all very helpful. Our guide Mariu was fantastic! He spoke great English, cracked jokes with us, and really made the experience complete. Highly recommend this company, everything was top notch!
Rinjani Trekking // 3 Days 2 Nights Almost 40 km across crater rims, hot springs, and jungle trails. An unforgettable climb, made possible by our guide Anton and the incredible porters. Day 1 // 9 AM – 3 PM 1.5 km elevation gain • 10.63 km distance • 4 hr 29 min Reached the crater rim at 2,500 m and slept on the edge of the volcano. Day 2 // 2 AM – 6 PM Woke up at 2 AM for the summit push. 1.2 km elevation gain • 5 km to the top, reached 3,700 m by sunrise. Back at base camp by 8:30 AM for breakfast. Hiked to the crater lake at 10 AM (5.83 km, 0.8 km elevation). Arrived at the hot springs at 12:45 PM for lunch. Climbed up the other side to Base Camp 2 (3 km). Dinner at 6 PM and sleep. Day 3 // 6 AM – 12 PM Breakfast on the crater rim at 6:30 AM. Descended through the jungle: 1.6 km down over 9.34 km. Couldn’t have done it without our guide Anton, who stayed with us the whole time. Without him, we would have been lost in the jungle. The porters were incredible, carrying our tents, sleeping bags, mats, and meals the entire way, in flip-flops!?
We did the 3D2N trekking of mount Rinjani. I have to admit, we underestimated the entire trek. We are both fit and not unexperienced with mountain hiking, but this was the toughest hike we'd ever done. Nonetheless, I can hardly express how amazing the experience was. And it's all thanks to our fantastic guide Mario and his team of porters. They are truly the backbone of this trip. We had a group of 4, which was perfectly sized. Even though we had different levels of fitness, Mario made sure everyone was supported according to their level. And the porters are the silent heroes of the trip: carrying all food, water and tents up while you're doubting your life decisions that led you here. We booked via Jou trekking (book with them directly, more profit goes directly to them) and everything was perfectly arranged, from pickup from the hotel to the gear to the arrival back. So, would I do it again? Probably not :D But would I recommend it? With all my heart! Thank you again Mario!
Fantastic and unique hike. The views are beautiful, as are the sleeping places. Just be aware that it's very hard. The guides are fantastic. Mario was extremely friendly and helpful. No question was too much for him, and he took into account all levels of the group. Of course also infinite respect for the porters who carried our tents and food and provide us with delicious meals daily.
We went on the 3D2N with our guide Riss to mount Rinjani. An incredible excperience. Riss and his crew were the best, providing with evertthing we needed. The really helped is through it all, because it was very hard to get to the summit of the mountain. Without him we would never have made it.
We've had a fantastic draw. Everything was well arranged. Good food and a lot of respect for how hard the guides and porters work.
