We had a great experience with Oscar. We tried all the different food in the local market from a to z. Learned about the history of the food and went to several stalls. I dont think I would of ventured into the local market, were it not for the tour. But I went back the next day and sat down and enjoyed a delicious meal by myself. This is a must do!
Oscar was incredible! Get him as your guide if at all possible. He knows so much about the area and knows all of the people in Leon. He let us experience various foods, and when we asked questions about the church or the history, he had so much knowledge! He is very laid-back and is a gifted at what he does. My 19 year old son and I had a blast!!

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! It was easily the best thing I did in Leon. Oscar is highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was very good at building connections among the group. If you're thinking about it, just book it!

Awesome to learn more about Nicaragua history & gastronomy. Oscar was a wealth of knowledge…and gracious enough to do a 1:1 tour on a Saturday morning. Definitely worth the time if you’re in León!
The tour was very interesting, we not only tasted the food we also got an insight into the history of Leon. The food we were allowed to taste was excellent. Everything from sweet to salty is included.
Our tour guide Oscar was awesome. We highly recommend. Do the tour at the beginning of your stay in Leon because Oscar gives great information about the history and culture of the area too.
I usually don't bother to write reviews (I know I should lol) but the local food tour in Leon was phenomenal! Oscar made the tour exceptional! His knowledge of Leon and all of Nicaragua looked at through the lens of food was wonderful. It was focused on traditional food from not only the current population but also expanded to the indigenous cuisine. Wonderful! Thank you Oscar for a great tour. If you are thinking of taking this tour I would recommend asking for Oscar.
