Tijuca Forest Hike - Cataratas e Cavernas, Natureza e Vida Selvagem!

We did the hike in the Tijuca Forest during our week in Rio and had a really great time! Climbing into the large cave was especially fun for us. Alli was a very likable and competent guide and told us a lot about the forest, the plants, and the animals. We found the stories about the indigenous names and how the plants and trees are used traditionally to be especially interesting. The forest is beautiful, and along the way you also pass by waterfalls and always have great views. The pickup from the hotel worked out great, and afterwards Alli dropped us off at the beach and gave us many tips on what we can see in the area. Really a great tour and absolutely recommended!

My husband booked this trip for us as a present, and I spent the most wonderful birthday in the forest with Alli. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and was able to fluidly alternate between the three as needed during our tour. We opted to be picked up from the hotel and got a nice tour of the local neighborhoods on our way up as well. Tijuca is very biodiverse, and we saw so many interesting species of plants, animals, and flowers, along with many waterfalls and caves. The trail is not too difficult, for those with a moderate level of fitness. We were glad we had insect repellent as well. This was perhaps our favorite tour among the many tours that we’ve done across 7 countries in the last two months. There are so many beautiful places out there, including this one, but what truly makes a huge difference in an experience is the tour guide. And Alli is the best! She is not only very funny and kind, she also radiates so much positive energy and wonder for the world. I felt that it inspired the rest of us to be more curious and excited about the amazing flora and fauna around us. Just a lovely time, and we hope to be back to hike with her again. Highly highly recommend this tour!

This is a wonderful hike in particular for those visiting Rio de Janeiro. This wonderful park is a 30 minute drive from the city and the hike & rain forest make for a very memorable & enjoyable experience. Allasamdra our guide was excellent, her knowledge of the forest and hike were deep and provided a great experience. Our hike required about half a day. The hike is not that technical, but requires some endurance. Allasandra showed us several of the tree and plant species which was great as I learned much. She also explained the park history from colonial times thru the current time which was insightful as I have minimal knowledge of Brazil. As an example the park was a coffee plantation during colonial times then the royal family initiated conservation of the park to return it the natural state as a rainforest.

Hiking the trail, exploring the caves, and seeing the waterfalls of Tijuca Forest was one of those soul-cleansing experiences. The place already has a surreal energy, but what made everything unforgettable was our guide, Alessandra! ​The contrast between the mystery of the caves and the good energy of the waterfalls makes the tour invigorating from start to finish. It was one of the best experiences I've had! I left there with a cleansed and recharged soul. I really appreciate all the experience and immersion in this magical and nature-filled side of the city of Rio de Janeiro!

Thank you for this exciting and incredibly informative hike through Tijuca National Park! Lucas is a fantastic guide who knows a lot about nature and is great at sharing his knowledge. What I found particularly impressive was his dedication to protecting Tijuca. Among other animals and plants, we saw beautiful coatis and stick insects. The hike is easy to moderate, more easy for experienced hikers—despite the heat and humidity. The support and super friendly communication from the organizer (or rather, Allis!) also deserves 10 out of 5 stars! :)

Very good tour for a half , was able to cover all the areas mentioned in the tour . Victor is and is excellent tour guide , showing us where to see wildlife , we had a fees stops during our hike to see wildlife like monkeys , birds , some plants , etc

This was a wonderful start to the morning ! We had a great guide, Sérgio. He took great care of us! We hiked thru the forest , we had a waterfall shower. We enjoyed cave exploring and climbing together ! It was a full morning from pick up just before 8 am and returning just before 2 pm! A few useful and important things to know before booking thus tour! if you are not used to hiking , climbing and crawling in steep areas maybe choose something else . I was the more mature/ older person ( over 50) in this tour and I am active but some parts of it were quite a challenge for me. Bring good hiking shoes, wear your bathing suit, maybe change of clothes, quick dry towel , light raincoat and light backpack. Bring bug repellant, water, fruit, something for food /lunch break . Enjoy the forest and all the waterfalls!

One of the best things I did while in Brazil! Thomas our tour guide was amazing and knew everything about the jungle taught us so much. Would recommend anyone booking this tour just be ready for a lot of walking!

A truly exciting trip led by Sergio, a professional guide with excellent climbing skills and a deep passion for nature. Having worked in the forest for years, Sergio is knowledgeable and loves sharing his connection with the nature. On the day of the tour, we met at a set point, and he drove us into the forest, and stopping at different parking spots. Since we were young and energetic, Sergio took us to explore three caves and various waterfalls. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, he can also take you on a gentle walk, allowing you to enjoy the fresh air and peaceful surroundings. Along the way, we encountered beautiful plants and wildlife.
