I received this tour for two as a gift, and after going with my husband, I would give ten stars if it was possible! Our guide was Þorkell, and he did such an amazing job at tailoring this tour for two people who have lived in Iceland for a while: he gave us a unique experience, adding deviations to show us places we hadn’t yet had any chance of seeing, and his deep knowledge of Iceland’s history, geology and fun facts made our day! We learned so much from him, he was just excellent! The tour’s highlight was the Katla Ice Cave, where we were safely escorted into the cave by a professional glacier guide, who provided spikes and helmets for everybody. The cave is always changing so they explained that every month it can potentially look different! There was a short and very easy five minute hike to enter the cave, and it was just amazing to witness! I definitely 100% recommend this tour, and will keep doing so when directing tourists at my workplace in Reykjavik on where to go and what to see!!
I loved my tour with Superjeep. Our tour guide Erik was professional and know how to drive the jeep well and he was sharing informative stories of Iceland as a local. I also had fun on the Ice cave tour which is a short hike to get to but our other guide was also well aware, professional and has a sense of humour. I also loved all the waterfalls area we visited 🥰 overall, my experience was fun and memorable. Super thank you to superjeep for making this possible🤗👍
Overall experience was wonderful, it was just my husband and I so it felt like a personal experience. Since we hd already been to the south coast a few days prior our guide took us to other spots we didn’t see before which was great! Even though the ice cave was a lot smaller then we had seen in photos because of it starting to shrink it was a great experience
As eleven hour tour from Reykjavik to the beautiful countryside of the south coast, with numerous stops at waterfalls, black sand beaches, and finally at the ice caves of Katla. Superjeeps are four passenger vehicles capable of navigating the difficult--and beautiful--terrain necessary to reach the ice caves, which were a highlight of our visit. Call-out to our driver and guide, Nick, who was knowledgeable and friendly and patient.
Hmmm. Is it possible to give more than 5 stars? If so, this excursion definitely qualifies. It was amazing to have a curated trip to the South Coast and Katla Ice Caves with a small group of friends. Nick, our guide, was fantastic. He expertly maneuvered through some crazy weather as well the rough off-road terrain. Everyone in the group was happy/relieved that he was behind the wheel and not any of us. He was also extremely knowledgeable about both the geology and history of the area, had a fabulous play-list for the trip, a great sense of humor, and even gave us tips for our camera settings to best capture the magic around us. He made a great trip through this stunning landscape even better. My friends and I looked at many options for visiting the South Coast and are so glad we chose this one. It was definitely a bit of a higher price point than some of the others, but totally worth it if you can afford the splurge. Completely amazing. Highly, highly recommend.
My family of four including 2 college students had a great time on this tour! David was prompt, helpful and a safe driver. We loved the black sand beach and the super jeep ride to the ice cave. The cave itself was incredibly beautiful and we got an extra surprise with an up close viewing of an artic fox and a raven. I highly recommend this tour!
We spent a full day with Biggy on this tour, highlighted by an unforgettable experience in the ice cave. Bring waterproof clothes! At 71 we were challenged with the glacier hike but the Holy Man guide led us safely. Awesome!
An absolutely fabulous day. Driving across the volcanic fields, was awe-inspiring. The glacier was magnificent and climbing up to the ice cave was easier than I had expected due to steps having been cut into the ice. The ice cave itself was magnificent and like nothing I could have imagined. A definite must-do!
It was an amazing all day trip to the ice cave with stops at various waterfalls that were just stunning to view. You could get close to the waterfalls and see the rain bows weather permitting . The majesty of w later falls was almost mystical. We then saw the second largest glacier ( can’t remember the name ) and managed to climb up part of it .. what an experience . Seeing the ice caves was just beautiful. A very worthwhile trip if you can skate a day. ., our guide Yingui was just wonderful ..
Such a great trip, jeep was handled well and the driver had fun with the conditions which was great. The highlight was Katla. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The views were simply WOW. Such a great photographic opportunity too. The cave was astounding, the light, refraction, layers truly beautiful. Nature at her best perhaps. The trip is suitable for all fitness levels I would say, certainly it isn't strenuous. An unexpected highlight (bringing out my inner child) was the slide down. You had the option of walking too. Vik was a short stop for lunch. The venue, micro brewery is worth dining at. Admittedly there was limited time at other locations on the south coast however the focus which was Katla was superb and I would not have wanted the balance to be different. We were collected from Hotel Rangá at Hella which saved quite a drive from the start point in Reykjavik. Highly recommended.
