A great introduction to Icelandic food culture with lots of yummy, some first time tastes. Our guide, Rosie, was excellent, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Definitely don’t need to eat again on the day after this tour. Highly recommended.
Day was SUCH AN AMAZING guide!! The entire experience was worth every penny. Length was perfect, portions were perfect, literally zero complaints.
The beautiful and talented Bonnie was our guide and really made the tour worth it. Price was a little expensive but to be expected visiting Iceland. All food was included in the price except for drinks but if you're just having water you will be fine. Great mix of traditional and modern dishes to try. A great introduction to Iceland.
We had a wonderful time on our food tour with Mimir. The food was great, and Mimir is not only informative, but fun and engaging. He truly upgraded the whole experience for all of us!
A very fun and delicious food tour with “Day”, our guide. He had interesting facts about Icelandic history and culture presented with upbeat humorous stories. The food was so good. We ate things I would never have picked off a menu and I loved them !
The food walk was the first thing I did after I landed in Reykjavik and dropped my bag at the hotel.Getting to the meet point was easy enough and after an initial confusion on my part as to whether to meet inside or oustide the venue,I was greeted by my tour guide Haddy, who is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Haddy was very impressive in balancing both getting to know his group and sharing his considerable knowledge of all things Iceland,Icelandic culture and the culinary delights that awaited.Yes that did include the fermented shark, which personally i thought was ok,it tasted fine, would recommend not to chew it for too long though 🙂. Portion sizes are good too in that you get a taste of the culinary delights but also not too leave you too full that you can't enjoy the rest of the tour. The cod,the lamb shoulder and the icelandic hot dogs were really good and could easily have eaten those all day. I do think though that the tour guide made the trip for us - Haddy gave some really good pointers that made my trip all that more enjoyable in terms of recommending things for afterwards like bars to visit, things to do,things to avoid, what to expect from Golden Circle tours, what local culture is all about etc. You are in good hands with Haddy when he is conducting the tour and you certainly won't be disappointed. He's a top guy and I wish him well for the future and for future tours.
This is an incredible food tour! Our guide, Thor, did an incredible job explaining the dishes we ate. He gave us the history of Icelandic food and how the cuisine today has transitioned into more fusion style dishes. He also sent us a recap of all the places we went along with other recommendations after the tour! My husband and I learned a lot. The food was incredible! Our favorite was the seafood elixir and lobster tacos. We HIGHLY recommend going on this tour if you’re in Iceland. It is well worth it and we would love to do it again!
This was a great food tour experience. We did the food tour the first day in Reykjavik. I recommend it as a plan. It gave us a taste of the best versions of some classic Icelandic foods. Hilda did an excellent job. I’ve done several food tours around the world. She was a great combination of knowledgeable, local and very personable.
A historic fun and foodie tour! Ben was entertaining as well as informative! And a wealth of local and mythical information. Foods from salmon, arctic char, lamb, pork, the best hot dog you will ever have in your life, and the nastiest fermented Greenland shark. Yes that’s right, I said nasty…. And yes you have to try it. It’s like if you don’t well….you aren’t a real Icelandian. Ben is friendly charming and so patient with all your questions. He also offer dating in Iceland tips! 🤣 Thank you Ben
Bonnie is an excellent guide. She is very knowledgeable and personable and goes the extra distance to ensure a fantastic experience.
