San Damiano é uma igreja com um mosteiro perto de Assis, Itália. Construído no século XII, foi o primeiro mosteiro da Ordem de Santa Clara, onde Santa Clara construiu sua comunidade.
Construída em uma escala grandiosa, a Basílica de Santa Maria dos Anjos é a sétima maior igreja cristã. Sua magnificência pode estar em desacordo com a simplicidade pregada pelo próprio São Francisco, mas os bandos de peregrinos que visitam a primitiva capela Porziuncola e a Capela do Transito pediram um edifício que pudesse acomodar os fiéis.
Ele está localizado a 4 km do centro de Assis. O edifício branco está situado em uma rua tranquila cercada por montanhas. Este é o eremitério do Carceri, onde São Francisco e seus seguidores estavam orando e meditando. "Eremo" significa hermitage em italiano

The young Italian woman, who was our tour guide, gave us an amazing informative and enjoyable tour of St. Francis and St. Claires's spiritual journey in Assisi! I learnt so much! We could feel that she truly loved her job and her spirit was inspiring and contagious! Forgive me, for not remembering your name. I will always remember your spirit! This was a memorable experience for my 2 adult daughters and I. I want to mention and thank the van driver, who navigated the curvy roads so skillfully. Assisi is truly a spiritual historic quaint unique town, which I fell in love with! A pure joy! The landscape scenery of the countryside from St. Francis' Hermitage and His Basilica was truly breathtaking! This is my favorite town, so far! Don't miss it!
A wonderful and informative tour of special Franciscan sites outside the old town of Assisi. A must for those who follow Franciscan spirituality.
Werner was excellent in showing us around, giving us time where we wanted to stop . Very knowledgeable of all there was to see and experience. Wished we could have sat longer in the silence of the woods like St Francis

A journey to magical places of intense peace. Neither the fact that I took the tour alone nor the rain in the early morning caused the tour to be changed. First, Francesca was a wonderful guide. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about Francis and Assisi, and attentive to what we hoped to experience by visiting these 3 sites. I wish the tour was a little longer to allow for more "contemplative" time - particularly Eremo della Carceri (which was wonderful: beautiful statues of Francis, Francis' bed, quiet grounds...) and San Damiano (both were peaceful & uncrowded in contrast with the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli/Porziuncola which was extremely crowded and packed with tour groups). We were 2 couples of family and the transportation was in a comfortable private van. We were very happy with the overall experience.
