Forte do Inicio do séc. XVI, usado para proteger e combater os corsários argelinos e as tropas Filipinas em pleno séc. XVI e XVII. Oferece-nos uma vista sobre uma parte do cone de escórias do que se crê ter sido o 2º vulcão que originou a ilha de Santa Maria, à aprox 8.7 M anos
Aqui poderá desfrutar de uma das vistas mais bonitas e paradisíacas que a ilha tem para oferecer. Umas das baías mais belas do Mundo
Deserto Vermelho ou Barreiro da Faneca, uma extensa área com cerca de 8 Hectares de cinzas vulcânicas que passaram por um processo de oxidação à cerca de 3.5 Milhões de anos. Parece que estamos em Marte
Padaria/Pastelaria e cooperativa de artesanato que continua a valorizar através da arte das suas funcionárias, o patrimonio secular das gentes da ilha através do seu pão, dos seus biscoitos de orelha e das tuas tecelagens. Ponto de paragem obrigatório
Em memória da paragem de Cristovão Colombo no Lugar dos Anjos em 1493 onde rezou uma missa na Capela de N. Sra de Sant'Ana.

We came for the day from Ponta Delgada. Early arrival at 7 a.m. for a 9 a.m. tour start. But thanks to Miguel, our guide, that was not a problem because he met us at the airport and dropped us off in the city center for breakfast and a visit before the start of the tour. Miguel is an exceptionally kind guide and helped us discover Santa Maria in an exceptional way. We visited all the sites and he shared his passion for his island with us. Same accompaniment at the end of the day for a return to the airport at 8 p.m., well after the end of the tour. We recommend Smatur and especially Miguel. 👍

The guide that was assigned to us, Mr. Ricardo was of a sympathy showed us beautiful places of this wonderful island, which without the knowledge and professionalism of Ricardo, sure that alone we would not be able to know in so little time. A day our family will never forget, thanks to our guide, Ricardo. He shared his love and knowledge of this beautiful island. He was incredibly kind with my elderly parents, ensuring their safety. The tour took us to amazing places we would have never found on our own. I would do it all ovtt we again in a second!!

My husband and I want to take a moment to acknowledge Miguel and our tour guide, Ricardo, who hosted us during our visit to Santa Maria, Azores. This trip was very personal for us! Our heritage and roots run deep on this beautiful island and Ricardo not only showed us all of the highlights on the island, he went above and beyond to also extend his time to make sure we saw all of the personal highlights such as family birth places and the resting places of our ancestors which allowed us to share it with our children and grandchildren. We had a full day tour with Miguel. He was excellent, making sure we saw absolutely everything there was to see and experiencing some of the wonders of tge island including walking barefoot on deep moss and swimming in the sea. Nothing was too much trouble. The day was full of humour and information. Very memorable.
