O Siloso Point é separado do Labrador Park, em Singapura, por menos de meio quilômetro de mar. Esta proximidade alimentou uma lenda urbana sobre um túnel submarino que conecta fortes construídos pelos britânicos e baterias de artilharia em ambos os locais. Apesar de inúmeras escavações e restaurações, nenhum túnel foi encontrado e nenhum aparece em mapas ou documentos. Os nomes dos lugares e características naturais em Blakang Mati refletem as comunidades locais, a história econômica e social, bem como a flora e fauna da ilha. Perto de onde Fort Siloso fica, hoje havia uma área conhecida como Sarang Rimau, o berço de tigre em malaio, usado pelos Orang Laut para refletir seu conhecimento da área.
Siloso Beach, uma das três praias com lagoas de natação criadas pela Sentosa Development Corporation, SDC durante os anos 70 e 80 tem uma rica história. Seu nome vem da palavra malaia para "rocha", inicialmente um ponto de defesa estratégica. Foi transformado em um hotspot turístico vibrante na década de 1970. Hoje, Siloso Beach é conhecida por seu volleyball de praia, esportes aquáticos e vida noturna agitada, onde a energia nunca desaparece e as festas continuam.
Palawan Beach, é nomeado após a palavra malaia "Pahlawan", que significa guerreiro ou herói. Durante o período colonial, soldados britânicos frequentaram a Praia de Palawan para proteger os nadadores das frequentes observações de tubarões e crocodilos de água salgada. Os britânicos ergueram cercas de tubarão conhecidas como "pagars de natação" no malaio. Felizmente, esses predadores não são mais encontrados em torno de Sentosa, tornando-se um local seguro e agradável para os visitantes da praia hoje.
Em 2003, Sentosa Cove foi lançado como um enclave fechado de 117 hectares com 2.600 casas, incluindo moradias, mansões e condomínios. Dos 117 hectares, 100 hectares são terras recuperadas. A área inclui cinco ilhas artificiais Coral Island, Paradise Island, Treasure Island, Sandy Island e Pearl Island, reservadas principalmente para bungalows. Os desenvolvimentos residenciais estão aglomerados nos distritos norte e sul. Em junho de 2015, a Sentosa Cove alojou mais de 5.000 moradores que vivem em 2160 casas, principalmente condomínios, casas de terraço e bungalows.
A ilha de Lazarus, anteriormente conhecida como Pulau Sakijang Pelepah, que significa ilha de cerdos e palmeiras em malaio, abrigava caixões de prisão no final do século 19. Estes foram abandonados após a corajosa fuga de um prisioneiro. Hoje, a ilha atrai visitantes para sua praia de areia limpa e branca em uma lagoa em forma de c conhecida como um dos segredos mais bem guardados de Singapura. Lazarus Island é um dos poucos pontos nas ilhas do sul onde iates e barcos privados podem ancorar, permitindo que os visitantes desfrutem de suas praias imensas e beleza intacta.

Had my proposal to my girlfriend and now my fiancé, she said yes! Staffs helped a lot all throughout the cruise. They also took photos and videos for me. Food was lovely although you might want to encourage the chef not to hover over passengers while they are selecting their food. Wine quality was terrible. Flowers were beautiful. BUT seriously people stop with all the marketing emails. I signed up with Trip Advisor not with you. But you are abusing the access to send me way too many emails. Over 30 odd. And when I ask you to stop you then sent me two on the same day. So I asked again. And now you send me 3 of the same. Which is why I have rated this experience so poorly.

I went on this lovely cruise as a birthday surprise invitation by my wife. The ship is beautiful, well maintained, and the staff were generally kind and courteous. The food was also tasty, albeit some portions were somewhat small. (Par for the course in Singapore). While the service was good, I found that the service staff is not empowered to do what is necessary to delight the customer. For example, I was set to order a Long Island ice tea but I didn’t like Cuervo tequila and asked nicely if they would use Don Julio instead. The waiter looked at me as if I was from Mars, but he proceeded to tell me that he would have to check with his manager! He came back in a few minutes and promptly told me “So sorry, cannot”. At $25 dollars per drink, I would have expected a bit more flexibility and accommodation. If your business is in the hospitality industry, then this shouldn’t be such a difficult guest request. Similarly situation occurred as I asked for a 2nd roll of bread. There seems to be a scarcity mindset on board, which is incongruent with general principles of hospitality. I would have been more inclined to order more drinks if I the manager had been a bit more thoughtful and accommodating.

The overall experience is just great. It’s a nice cruise, and all the catering staff is very attentive if you need anything. Buffet food can be a hit and miss, but no complaints here as the food was good quality as were the free flow drinks. Special thanks to Captain Mike Willie and his crew who are not only sailing the ship, but also interacting with the guests. And thanks to him for answering my nautical question as well. It is good to know that this cruise does not take place under sail, but with engine power. For sure there are operational reasons for that. If you’re looking a pure sailing cruise, do enquire before if it will be under sail or under engine power.
