We loved this experience!! It was great to see this side of the island. Only downside is the swimming stops weren’t very long and therefore feel abit rushed. if these could be longer it be even better
Absolutely fabulous!! We booked through a kiosk near our hotel and got a discount for listening to a sales pitch (not great, took 2 hours!). Booked the “Jeep” tour (it’s a Land Rover) which is more pricey than the minibus- and so glad we did! Lots of stops at different viewpoints - paid extra €5 pp for glass walkway and €3 pp for swimming in the ocean pools plus lunch and a drink. It was all lovely - but then for the off road section!!!! Standing up in the back trying to hold on and enjoy the sights was awesome fun. We are 2 x 48 yrs 1 x 20 and 1x very nearly 17. This is NOT a tour for anyone unfit - save a few euro and go by bus! For anyone able this is a must do activity in Madeira. Trip took about 8 hours. We’re staying in Funchal and this was a great taster of the west of the island. Henrik was our driver and super good fun. Thank you for an awesome day!!
Firstly, the reason I give this company 5/5 is that we booked a trip in December, but on the day of the trip my wife was ill so we weren't able to attend. The company let us move the date to 6 months later, at no additional cost which is great customer service. As for the trip itself, the guide was nice enough (Henry? Henrique?) but his knowledged of the island was very basic. He would annouce that you were in a "village" (even Funchal was called a village) and that farmers planted bananas, cabbages, sugarcaine or potatoes. We were told this about 8 different times in various places, or that the University hospital is where they trained doctors... The stop at the sexial beach (black beach) was too short to have a swim, that could have been longer and I would possibly cut out the second "viewing stop" beforehand, which wasn't that great.
It was amazing We had so much fun. The guide - Miquel, gave us a great time. Very informative and cheerful A small minus was the fix lunch.. we would liked a much lighter lunch and spend more time in the pools of Ponto Moniz or Seixal beach The last 20 minutes on the highway was also not very comfortable as we are driving fast in an open car But the tour was amazing and I would definitely recommend this
Great experience. Good host very informative definitely worth booking and would recommend to anyone in Madeira.
We went with Robert. It was such a beautiful day. Entertaining, exciting, funny. We liked the trip to the cloud forest and the off-road track down the best. With Robert, there was also a surprise off the planned route. Absolutely recommended.
Very pleasent experience. The guide Robert was very nice and friendly too
What a fantastic day! I only wish we’d done this on our first day in Madeira. We had Andreas as our guide, and True Spirit should seriously give him a pay rise! We were picked up on time from our collection point and joined another five people, making a group of eight. Andreas was incredibly knowledgeable without ever being boring. He shared fascinating facts about Madeira’s geography and history, all with a great sense of humour. I genuinely couldn’t tell when he was joking—to the point that when our jeep actually broke down, I almost thought it was part of the tour! He’s a young guy with an unexpected love of 80s music, and somehow every song was perfectly timed to what was happening. It made the day even more enjoyable, with everyone joining in for a few singalongs. A few tips for anyone booking: * Pack for all weather conditions. * Bring both trainers and slides, a light jacket, plenty of sunscreen and lots of water. * If you’re prone to travel sickness, the front passenger seat is a good option—but be aware that you won’t be able to stand up through the open roof during the off-road sections. I was a little disappointed to miss out, but it was the better choice for me. Yes, our jeep really did break down! Thankfully, it happened just as we reached the restaurant stop. Another jeep arrived quickly while the original was towed away by a hilarious recovery driver, which somehow became part of the entertainment. It barely affected the day, apart from a few nervous laughs between us all. My only feedback would be that I’d have loved a little more time at each stop. That’s another reason I’d recommend doing this tour on your first day in Madeira—it gives you a great overview of the island and helps you decide which places you’d like to return to and explore in more depth. I would happily pay a little extra for a longer tour if it meant spending more time at each location. The scenery was stunning, the off-roading was brilliant, and Andreas absolutely made the experience. I couldn’t recommend this tour more highly.
Booked this tour last minute but it’s become the highlight of our holidays. Joao was insightful and really proactive tour guide. He slightly rearranged the tour to make the most of the weather and views which was very appreciated. He set a nice relaxing environment and made sure we had every chance to take pictures of the beautiful views along the way.
Everything was very nice and our guide Roberto was very kind. The pity is that a little more time is needed at each stop and you are left wanting more. Otherwise, a very good experience and a recommended excursion.
