Obviously a little pricey, but I thought the experience was well worth it. Othon was a wonderful guide
The Mescals are top notch and the sommelier is reasonably knowledgeable. The samples of mole (served on their own in smaller than shot glass size cups) were ok. My issue was that we expected to be in a group but were not - that much is out of the establishment’s control up to a point as the others who were due to attend our slot cancelled. We were asked to join a later slot which we had no problem with but were then moved back to our original slot. A little chaotic. Our sommelier kept leaving us to go and prepare each sample of mole until we told her how disruptive that was. It also meant that the music she had left playing (connected to her phone) kept cutting out every time she left the room. Pretty amateurish. Wasn’t keen either on the hard sell of the establishment’s mescal and associated products, a little like being trapped in a timeshare marketing experience for the first 10-15 minutes. We did enjoy the mescals and learned a bit, but this could have been a so much better experience
Fun experience! Danny was great at explaining things to us, and made things fun.
We had so much fun learning about and tasting a variety of mezcals and moles. I didn’t know much about either one, and I came away with a better understanding of and deeper appreciation for both. Mariana was a fantastic sommelier, and she was very knowledgeable about the different pairings. I highly recommend this tasting for anyone who has even a tiny interest in mezcal or mole and how best to enjoy them.
If you want to learn more about mezcal and mole this is the way to do it. The setting is nice and really would be a good small group activity. I especially liked the mole pairing and tasting through so many different moles. Like a mini tour of Mexico. While we learned a lot, it did feel a bit rushed. I believe if they allowed two hours it would have been a bit more enjoyable.
The mole was good for being hydrated powder, the history is interesting. Just the worst mezcal we’ve had in Mexico. Got out of there as fast as we could because they are pushing their brand instead of highlighting top offerings.
Very interesting experience. There should be some food element or just snacks added to it. Just eating moles and drink mezcal can get you so drunk every quickly…the host is knowledgeable about moles and mezcal. Could add more history and l culture around them too
Angel was absolutely amazing and knowledgeable. It was so fun and we learned a lot. You can make this a fancy learning experience or you can take it easy and have fun with music and drinking / eating. It's so cool to see how the mezcal blends with the mole and to learn about the cooking/distillation process. We also learned about the plants and region the plants originate. So much better than a regular old drinking experience!!
Really interesting experience with some delicious mole! I would recommend adding some kind of food element (e.g., even just tortilla chips or something really simple) as straight Mezcal is a lot to take in without anything else.
Great way to learn about mezcal and mole and taste many varieties. The host was informative and very helpful.
