O Khmer Vermelho transformou a Escola Toul Sleng em um centro de interrogatório, tortura e morte. Milhares de fotos das vítimas podem ser vistas em cada quarto. Você andará devagar e investigará os materiais usados para interrogar os prisioneiros. Depois disso, viajamos cerca de 15 km em direção ao sudoeste de Phnom Penh e chegaremos a Choeung Ek. O memorial em Choeung Ek, nos arredores de Phnom Penh, era um pomar! E um cemitério chinês antes de 1975. Durante o regime Khmer Rouge, tornou-se um dos campos de extermínio o local das execuções brutais de mais de 17.000 indivíduos, a maioria dos quais sofreu tortura e privação pela primeira vez na prisão de Toul Sleng. Tuol Sleng era uma antiga escola que o Khmer Vermelho transformou em um centro de interrogatório, tortura e morte. Hoje é um museu de tortura e serve para lembrar os visitantes das terríveis atrocidades que aconteceram no Camboja. 17.000 pessoas passaram pelos portões desta prisão e apenas sete viveram para contar a história.
Os prisioneiros de Tuol Sleng seguiram o mesmo caminho até o destino. Antigo cemitério chinês, Choeng Ek foi transformado em um campo de extermínio para presos políticos. Os restos de 8985 pessoas foram exumados de valas comuns e são mantidos em uma estupa memorial aqui. Apesar dos horrores do passado, é um lugar tranquilo para ir e um local tranquilo para refletir sobre os trágicos eventos que envolveram o Camboja e seu povo.

On our first visit to Phnom Penh, we felt we needed to visit the Killing Fields and Genocidal Museum to understand the full extent of the atrocities that happened here, but also to pay our respect to the victims. Ms Thavy was an excellent private guide, allowing us to move at our own pace, giving us clear explanations for everything we saw, but also giving us time alone to see and reflect on the mass graves and the museum exhibits. It was a hard morning, and what we really found difficult, was that this all happened in our lifetime. Thank you Ms Thavy for your knowledge, guidance and professionalism - you made a difficult experience easier.

A sobering and sad experience but important to learn about . Our guide Mrs Thavy was very good in explaining the true horrors of what happened here. Excellent tour. Boat was easy. We had early pickup so rushed through early breakfast at hotel but need not have bothered - croissant and fruit on board would have been sufficient. Guide was very informative and knowledgeable. Great day

We had a fantastic tour with Mr Silong to S21 and the Killing Fields. Mr Silong spoke excellent English and was so informative about the history. The Killing Field trip was a difficult one, but Mrs. Sreyneang was an excellent guide. She explained in detail what had happened, but with empathy and at a speed that we could digest it all. Her knowledge and caring came through and we felt lucky to have such an amazing tour guide. She even took us to meet the last two living survivors of the prison. That is something we won't forget. We recommend that everyone do this tour so we all fully understand how awful human beings can be to each other. It also shows how much people tried to help each other in a desperate time.
