Excursão Marselha: City Sightseeing Tour of Marselha

A good view of various parts Marseille. Lots to see in time allotted so that viewing time gives a feel of the area Djilani our tour guide was excellent and informative. Great way to explore the area and enough time after to explore on your own.
Wonderful tour guide and driver. Private black luxury vans with only 4-6 people per van. Saw all the best spots.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted you enjoyed the tour, the guide, the driver, and the comfort of our private luxury vans. It was a pleasure showing you the best spots, and we hope to welcome you again on another tour soon.
We had very informative personable tour. He presented the information and let us explore. He had a fun personality and a very comfortable Mercedes van. He was able to get us close to the sites so we didnt have to walk in the heat. Perfect amount of time for our shore excursion. Excellent English!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the tour, the comfortable Mercedes van, and the flexibility to explore the sites at your own pace. We always try to make our shore excursions informative, relaxed, and comfortable, especially on hot days, while making the most of the time available in port. It was a pleasure having you with us, and we truly appreciate your recommendation. We hope to welcome you back to Provence again someday!
That the meeting location is not identified beyond a “gray small building” descriptor Tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly, great driver you saw a lot in a relatively short period of time. It was very well balanced.
Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour, the guide’s knowledge, friendliness, and driving, and that you were able to see a lot in a short time. We also appreciate your note about the meeting location. We understand that the “small gray building” description may not be clear enough, and we will work on improving our meeting point instructions to make it easier for future guests. Thank you again for choosing our tour.
This tour was a waste of time. First of all, the meeting place was confusing as we were told to go to the "end" of the dock area. turns out there are more than one "ends" to the dock area. We and another couple walked about a mile out of our way in the heat to find the right place. Also, the guide did not have a sign that said Viator or the name of the tour. She was just standing by the dock asking something to people walking by. We thought she was selling tours, not leading our tour. Next, when we got out at our first stop, at the cathedral, the guide walked ahead and talked to the people on either side of her. Since it was a narrow sidewalk, all the rest of us (20 or so) were trailing behind. I got nothing out of that stop. There was also a LOT of traffic in the city (not Viator's fault of course) so we inched along with no particular narrative. The church on the top of the hill was interesting, but not worth the time it took to get there and back. The guide must have been a substitute. She never gave us important information such as "the nearest bathroom" and we got barely any info on the City. The best part of the tour was the S-L-O-W trip back when the bus driver played a song about Marseilles (not La Marseillaise) over and over and over. We actually learned the refrain and sang along.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry that the tour did not meet your expectations. We would, however, like to clarify a few points. Marseille is a very busy Mediterranean port city, and unfortunately heavy traffic can significantly affect travel times. As you correctly mentioned, this is beyond the control of both the guide and the tour operator. Regarding Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, this is one of Marseille’s most important landmarks and one of the highlights of the tour, offering panoramic views over the city, the Mediterranean and the surrounding islands. We understand that you personally felt the journey there was not worth the time, but it remains an essential part of discovering Marseille for the majority of our visitors. We do take your comments regarding the identification of the guide and the management of the group seriously. A guide should be clearly identifiable and should make every effort to ensure that the entire group can hear and follow the explanations, not only the guests walking closest to them. We will address these points with our team. We would also like to clarify that the suggestion that the guide “must have been a substitute” is an assumption. The guide assigned to the tour was part of the operation scheduled for that day. Finally, we regret that the meeting point caused you difficulty. Cruise terminals in Marseille are extensive, which is precisely why detailed meeting instructions are provided before the tour. We continuously review these instructions to make them as clear as possible for arriving passengers. We appreciate both positive and critical feedback because it helps us improve our service. We are sorry that, on this occasion, your overall experience of Marseille did not reflect the experience we aim to provide.
My family wasn't part of a cruise ship. So trying to find the meeting spot was a little hairy. However, the guide was patient and waited for us. It was a good typical tour. Air conditioned bus as he narrated facts. We would go to locations and he would let us look on our own. There was an accident on the road that prevented our bus to go to the Cathedral on the top of the hill. However, since we weren't part of the cruises, he offered to take us up in a smaller van. So we got to see the Cathedral on our own at no extra charge, which was awesome. Overall, we all had a great time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We’re very happy to hear that you and your family had a great time with us. We’re sorry the meeting point was a little difficult to find at first, and we really appreciate your patience. Sometimes unexpected traffic situations in Marseille can affect the itinerary, so we’re especially glad we were able to find an alternative and take you to Notre-Dame de la Garde in a smaller vehicle. It was a pleasure having your family with us, and thank you again for your kind words and recommendation.
For Italian tourists, an excellent excursion in Italian, saw all the highlights of the city of Marseille, top
It would have been nice to actually write a review had I gone on an excursion. I made a booking through Viator in May for a shore excursion scheduled for July. I sent a message to Domitia Tours on the 7 July 2026 to confirm all is still on schedule. Received a positive reply from William Joe which reassures me. On the 30th July, the day before the excursion I receive a cancellation message due to an unexpected vehicle issue. Being at sea and due to the late notice, I was not able to book an alternative, hence I was not able to explore the city of Marseilles which was our first port of call. Great start to a vacation, thanks Domitia Tours for the bad experience which not only reflects on you, but on Viator as well. Disappointing!!!
We completely understand your disappointment, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, there are some situations that are simply beyond our control. The vehicle issue happened unexpectedly and at very short notice, and we were caught off guard as well. It was a difficult situation for us, especially knowing that cancelling so late could affect our guests’ plans. We would never cancel an excursion unless it was absolutely necessary, particularly when it concerns the safety and reliability of the vehicle. We are truly sorry that this prevented you from discovering Marseille during your visit and for the disappointment it caused you and your family.
Our tour guide was very attentive and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour. It was a little walk from the cruise ship dock so be ready and leave early.
Thank you very much for your review! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour and appreciated your guide’s knowledge and attention. Thank you as well for mentioning the walk from the cruise terminal — this is helpful advice for future guests. We hope to welcome you again on another tour in the South of France!
Tour did not include note dame de la Garre which was supposed to be the highlight of the trip The reason was the tour used a large bus instead of the “small group bus” described in the tour. The guide blamed it on road closure but I heard the driver saying the road is too much for a large bus.
Thank you for your feedback. We would just like to clarify what happened that day regarding Notre-Dame de la Garde. Access to the Basilica is limited to buses under 13 meters, and the bus used for your tour was approximately 12.80 meters, so it was authorized and able to access the Basilica. Unfortunately, that day there was an accident involving two vehicles on one of the very narrow access roads, which temporarily made it impossible for our bus to reach Notre-Dame de la Garde. This was an unexpected situation completely beyond our control and was not related to the size of our bus. We fully understand your disappointment, especially as Notre-Dame de la Garde is one of the highlights of Marseille, and we are very sorry that you were unable to visit it.
